THE CHBA has created a summary that will help you navigate the federal parties housing platforms. These relate to all things housing: affordability, labour force development, materials and supply as well as homeownership and other industry related policy goals such as climate change. Recently, the Liberals announced, as have the Conservatives, they will ban non-residents from buying a home as a two year test. The NDP have indicated that they will not ban but will tax non-resident buyers and additional 20% over and above provincial non-resident taxes.

The QHBA plans to host a Q&A period with the Federal Candidates on September 14th in the evening. We will provide more details to members on this event as soon as we have confirmation from all candidates on the date and format.
Future Cities Summit
Future Cities Canada (FCC) is a collaborative platform, that brings together people, ideas, and innovations from across sectors working at the nexus of city building and innovation to address the most pressing issues of our time. The QHBA has been participating in these sessions, held this year, May through to October. The Summit provides an important meeting place to spark partnerships and create opportunities from across the country and around the world on topics ranging from Housing & Infrastructure, Placemaking and Placekeeping, Data & Technology, Climate Change Adaptation, Education and the Future of Work. It's an opportunity to work collaboratively, across sectors and multiple perspectives, to accelerate innovation and action for more equitable, regenerative and prosperous cities.
