As the “meteorological season of autumn” begins, recent years have brought with it an invitation to join in the Season of Creation, an extended opportunity for us to consider the gift of creation and our place in it as creatures.
Commentary on creation often motivates us to sadness and guilt; the breath of this Season of Creation is that it involves Christians all over the world; the Season invites us to deepen our appreciation of God's continuing work in us and, inviting us to hope, reminds us to lift our eyes and hearts. Perhaps this year's season can inspire us to review our lives and commit ourselves to live and work in a way that expresses our appreciation of our common home.

Go bhfaighe Chríost an fomhar go torthúil sinn.

Season of Creation

Join Pope Francis in celebrating this year's Season of Creation

The Season of Creation has become the time of year when 2.2 billion Christians are invited to pray and care for creation. This annual season runs from the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation (Wednesday 1 September) to the Feast of Saint Francis (Monday 4 October 2021).

You can participate in this season by praying, joining an online or local event.

This year there are two UN conferences - COP15 on biodiversity in October and COP26 on climate change in November; The first will be about setting targets and the second will take place in Scotland in October and November. At it, countries will announce their plans to meet the goals of the Paris agreement.
You can sign the petition and read more about these conferences online:

An Oasis Day
- your place or ours?
Let us join you at home for a day's retreat

We look forward to welcoming Oasis Day participants back to Manresa - we may be able to offer them online (please let us know if you prefer online participation). The days are a time of quiet retreat, joining others for some reflective input, guided prayer, celebration of the Eucharist in Manresa's Arrupe Chapel and an opportunity for a one-to-one conversation with a spiritual director, or the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

One-day Retreats

Saturday 2 October 2021

Saturday 20 November 2021

Ignatius of Loyola refers to himself in his autobiography as “the Pilgrim”; these evenings draw on that popular image of life, using images, poetry and prayer to explore different aspects and evoke their meaning for participants.
Picking up on the idea in the current Season of Creation, this evening will consider the theme of 'home' and what it means for a pilgrim. You are welcome to join any evening - just register to attend.

Reflection on Glendalough
In the latest addition to our YouTube channel, Mike Drennan SJ reflects on how places like Glendalough have resonance for us and invites us to consider the meaning our religious and spiritual past has for our present.

September - November Retreats

MeadowA directed retreat is an opportunity to tell your story, to attend to how God has been at work in your life. For many may have a particular importance in recognising what restrictions and lockdowns have meant. We will be glad to offer you a quiet pace for prayer, reflection and spiritual conversation during one of this summer's retreats - in your place (online) or in ours.

One-day Guided Retreats
These retreats involved presentations to a group periodically during the day, with suggestions for prayer, activities and reflection.

Directed Retreats
We are glad to offer one-to-one accompaniment on these retreats, whether you have chosen to participate in Manresa, from home or from another chosen place of retreat. Retreatants can determine their own timetable, taking account of the daily individual meeting and participation in the daily Eucharist. Reduced capacity until 22 October mean that waiting lists continue in use.

4-night Directed Retreats
Participants in these four-day retreats are asked to check in by 5:00 pm on the opening day and leave by 5:00 pm on the concluding day, daily individual direction being available on each of the four days after arrival.

See our website for more one- to four-day retreats after October.

8-day Directed Retreats
Participants in these 8-day retreats are asked to check in by 5:00 pm on the opening day. The retreats comprise eight full days, concluding with mass on the final morning.

See our website for further retreats and events.

Mass
from the Arrupe Chapel

Mass can be joined online when a retreat is in progress - easy to check on our website.
You are welcome to join our Eucharist online when you can. Just consult the calendar on the website to see when mass is available online from the Arrupe Chapel and to get the link to access it.
