Welcome with sunflower

Getting ready to reopen our doors on
Monday September 20

It's an exciting and optimistic time where we can finally and cautiously return to the Coronation Centre. We are delighted to announce that the Coronation Centre will reopen our doors to our members on Monday September 20 with enhanced protective measures in place to decrease the risk of COVID transmission.

We are bringing back some of our safest programs. Other activities and programs will reopen on a graduated scale, dependent upon safety regulations.

To get our Centre back to some kind of normalcy it is going to take patience. How we operate and how you attend the centre will look a lot different. But let us assure you that our first concern is the health and safety of our members.

With the recent announcement of the provincial vaccine passport system, and the introduction of workplace vaccination policies in the Niagara Region, the City has an obligation to take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect our members, volunteers and staff.

Vaccination Protocol
You are now required to show proof that you are fully vaccinated before entering the centre.(the second dose has to be at least 14 days prior to visiting the centre)  A vaccine passport can take a number of different forms which we will be accepting such as a digital certificate presented on a smart phone app or a paper certificate with the watermark. For all information regarding vaccinations, proof of vaccinations and FAQs please read the Province's official backgrounder.

Please be respectful towards the staff and members. If you are not feeling well, please do not come to the centre. It’s important that we all take care of each other.

Vaccination
  • Please bring proof of your two vaccinations when visiting the Coronation Centre
  • Individuals can provide proof of immunization by downloading or printing their vaccine receipt from the provincial booking portal, or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.
Entering and Exiting the Centre

You’ll notice the new measures we’ve put in place for everyone’s safety when you next come through our doors.

  • All members will enter through the doors at the parking lot entrance.
  • Summer Street doors will be used for exiting the building only.
  • Members are to arrive no sooner than 15 minutes prior to the start of the program.
  • On entering the Centre our greeter will ask you to provide proof of full vaccination at least 14 days ago and answer a series of screening questions
  • Please apply the hand sanitizer provided at the entry door.
  • While travelling through the building and in your program all members must wear a mask or face covering (with the exception of those who have health, respiratory and sensory issues). Masks need not be worn during a fitness class.

Physical Distancing

Remember to greet with a wave or a fist pump instead of a hug or handshake.

  • There are floor markings and signage throughout the Centre to promote and maintain physical distance.
  • Programs areas will have designated floor markings.
  • Participants must stay in their designated area and cannot “visit” other program areas or participants.
  • Program and activity capacity is restricted so participants can maintain a physical distance.
  • Maintain a physical distance of 2 metres when using the stairs. There is tape on the stairs to outline directional flow.
  • Elevator Etiquette—Only one person in the elevator at a time please. (unless you live in the same household) Take the stairs when possible.  Avoid touching your face after pushing the button. Clean your hands or use hand sanitizer after leaving the elevator.
  •  The sun room is currently closed.
  • Participants will not be allowed to congregate in the hallways.
Participants must leave the Centre within
10 minutes of their program ending.

  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning throughout the day.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to the Centre and in all program spaces. Participants are encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands on a regular basis.

Greeters
Where would we be without our Greeters? I am delighted to report that some of our greeters will be helping us out at the entrance door off the parking lot to help screen, direct, and answer member's questions. Please be patient as the check-in process is somewhat different and will take longer. Remember that currently you must use the parking lot entrance door. The Summer Street doors are for exit purposes only.

Meet our staff
Meet our Staff / Update
You will notice a few changes when you return to Coronation. Vicky, our front desk receptionist is now working permanently at City Hall as a planning clerk with the planning, building and development department. She will be missed, but we wish her all the best in her new position. We welcome Natalie to this position. You can find out more about her below.
DJ who worked in the office is still redeployed working for the Municipal Works department as a customer service coordinator. We hope to see him back soon.
The second janitor position remains unfilled as we try to navigate staff to help out in the departments where they are needed most.
So that leaves us with what I call, 'The Three Musketeers'. Myself, Christine and Natalie. Please be patient with us as we settle back in and so Natalie can learn the ropes.
Hanya Nagy
Perhaps some of you can now put the name to the face. My name is Hanya Nagy and I am the Manager of the Coronation Centre. I have held this position for 20 years (that's right I started here when I was fifteen) Ha-ha. Pre-Covid the Centre thrived, some days almost bursting at the seams and you could always hear the sounds of laughter. The last eighteen months have been disturbingly quiet and I know you all have missed the Centre being open, as much as I have. We've got through this and I CANNOT wait for our doors to open on September 20 and welcome everyone back.
Christine
This is Christine, our awesome janitor. Christine started at the Coronation Centre in 2005 and there is no job too big or too small that she cannot do. She is a Jill of all trades and a very conscientious worker. I am blessed to have her on the Coronation team. Christine has been redeployed during the Centre's shutdown, most recently helping out at the vaccination clinic at MacBain. But she's now BACK, where she belongs. Welcome back Christine.
Natalie
This is Natalie who will be starting at Coronation in September. We don't know much about Natalie yet, but we are sure looking forward to getting to know her. What I can tell you however is that Natalie was born and raised in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. Her family moved to the Falls three years ago this month. She and her husband have three children, 2 sons(13 & 19 years) and 1 daughter(9 years old), and let's not forget about their bunny named Henry. Welcome aboard Natalie.
Stay Safe, Stay Well, Stay Connected! See you soon.

All the best,
