Welcome to the first issue of the new semester. The Libraries have been hard at work all summer and we have plenty of news and events to share with you. Read on to learn What's Happening!

In this issue:

Libraries Stacks Are Now Open

We are pleased to announce that Rutgers University Libraries have resumed access to our stacks at all libraries, including Camden, Newark, New Brunswick, and RBHS, effective Monday, August 23. This change brings with it important modifications to our services for accessing print collections—including changes to the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service and Click & Collect—so please visit our website to learn more about how these changes affect you.

New EZBorrow Platform

We’re excited to let you know that the EZBorrow service, the service that underpins our automated Rutgers interlibrary loan program for borrowing books and other physical items from libraries throughout our region, has migrated to a new technology platform. Any requests you made previously in the old platform will be closed out upon return of those items, and all new interlibrary loan requests will be created in the new EZBorrow platform.

Although the underlying EZBorrow technology platform is changing, the key benefits of the EZBorrow service remain the same. You can still check out books from any one of our 60+ university and research library partners around our region. The system also features automated processing, allowing staff to get your requested materials to you quickly and effectively.

2021 OAT Awards

Congratulations to the winners of our latest round of Open and Affordable Textbooks (OAT) Program awards!

The OAT Program is an incentive program that awards research funds to Rutgers faculty who make their courses more affordable for their students by using low-cost materials, library content, or open educational resources (OER). To date, the program has saved Rutgers students an estimated $6.0 million.

Special congratulations are in order for Ellen Anderson, Sean Bailey, Young-mee Yu Cho, Hee Chung Chun, and Marcia Meixler, the winners of our inaugural OAT Program Authoring Awards. These scholars have won our new award for the creation and development of completely new open educational resources by writing, developing, and creating textbooks as well as relevant supplemental materials.
