Meet 2021 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) Participants Sponsored by AAUW LR

Saturday, September 11
11:00 a.m.
(Zoom Meeting Link Below)

Come celebrate and hear the Branch-sponsored college students who attended NCCWSL (virtually) this summer.  They are Raquelle Roulette (Pulaski Tech); Ruby Trotter, Khristina Huff, and Hannah Krehbiel (UALR); and Alexis Gardner (Philander Smith).

As a member of this branch, you've sent more than a dozen students to NCCWSL over that last 15 years. We were able to sponsor more students this year due to the lower cost of a virtual meeting.

NCCWSL is a leadership conference where hundreds of college women from around the country come together for leadership training, inspiration, and networking. Learn more about NCCWSL here.

Are you a NCCWSL alumni? Please come be part of this meeting and introduced!

The Branch meeting is open to the public. New AAUW members who attend qualify for a special Shape the Future discount (national membership at half price) when they choose to join the Branch.

AAUW LR Board Planning Meeting Results

Thanks to all who attended the virtual Board meeting. We agreed to:
  • Keep branch meetings virtual at least through December 2021
  • Explore participation in the AAUW National 5-Star Recognition Program
  • Update, publish a Branch Yearbook and distribute paper copy to all members*
  • Explore new ideas for fundraising both for NCCWSL and for the annual silent auction
  • Analyze branch funds and sustainability over time
  • Seek branch members to take on roles in fundraising and in communications (Interested? Contact Zenobia Harris or Maria Jones)
  • Re-establish the Sunshine Committee**
*Be sure your name, phone number, email and physical address are correct in the AAUW Membership Database so they will be correct in the yearbook.  Nell Matthews or Mary McGehee can assist you with this.

** Contact Maureen Terrafranca or Debra Tillery if you know of a member who has a significant life event (death in family, illness, etc.) and who could use a card and/or a phone call.

Renewing Your AAUW Membership

Thanks to all who have renewed your membership. If we have your correct email address, you have been receiving emails from AAUW to pay your dues online.  The link will take you directly to the payment site with no need to log into the National AAUW website. Dues are $82 for one year ($62 national + $10 State + $10 Branch).

If you prefer, you may send your dues directly to Treasurer Nell Matthews at 7200 Briarwood Dr, Little Rock 72205.  Because we are trying to accommodate all methods of payment, you may also use Apple Pay by sending an Apple Pay request to Nell at 501-563-6734.

Finally, on the AAUW Little Rock website, there is a PayPal button that will accept both donations to the AAUW General Fund and for AAUW Little Rock dues. Members who haven't renewed by the end of September will be removed from the Branch membership list. We have 43 members who need to renew their AAUW memberships. Not sure if you need to renew? Contact Nell Matthews.
