How should churches gauge their success? Attendance? Online engagement? Offerings? Baptisms?… All of the above? Paul gives Titus a different kind of metric in our final passage from his letter to his protege.
Come join us this Sunday at 10:30a, in person or online, and discover what ought to define purpose in the life of a church and in the lives of believers!

A NOTE FROM PASTOR JERRY
“Lord, as we move forward, I pray that you will pave the way
with grace!”
Ever prayed a prayer like that? I have. Recently, I’ve been
reflecting on what the criteria would be to say that God has granted that request, looking back on the experience. By “grace” do we mean smooth— no potholes, no detours, bad weather or breakdowns? When things DO go smoothly, we often (and rightly) give God glory and say that God really “showed up”, right? But are we also saying that if the opposite had happened, that God did not show up?
Another way to ask this is “What exactly constitutes God’s blessing?” Is it what we consider blessed in terms of our experience of it? Or is it something else entirely? My concern is that as Christians we sometimes fall into the trap of idealizing our relationship[ with God, setting up expectations that may or may not be legit in terms of evaluating God’s actions or inactions. We forget that God is much more interested in growing our faith in Him as a good God, who can be trusted to handle the worst that life can throw at us, than He is in giving us a happy experience in response to our prayers.
I think expecting grace along the way can help us to keep our expectations in check… No MATTER WHAT, God has our back and He never stops paving the way with grace. No matter where it leads us or how challenging the journey. My prayer is that I will remember that and not be fooled into judging God’s love for me by the outcomes of my experiences.
See you on Sunday!
Jerry Schrick, Senior Pastor
