Safer West Mercia Plan
It's time to have your say.

I have launched my plan to deliver a Safer West Mercia Plan and now is your chance to shape the final version. As part of a consultation to gather views, you can now have a say on the focus for policing, and reducing crime in the coming years and how it will benefit the communities of West Mercia.

The consultation is open now and will close on Monday 1st November.

DIVERT Funding

In partnership with the other regional PCCs I have secured additional funding to DIVERT drug offenders away from becoming involved in more serious offences, across West Mercia.

This funding seized regionally as proceeds of crime, will fund the charity Cranstoun to deliver the DIVERT project.

New Water Safety Education Manager

I am invested to improve water safety education. Pathfinder
I am proud to fund Pathfinder, a fantastic initiative that teaches 15-17 year olds about road safety, risk awareness and safe attitudes towards driving. It allows the young people to have a go at driving and take part in an intensive, exciting and high impact experience where they can also learn invaluable skills.
The Young Rider Road Safety Project

I am proud to be funding a new and exciting project aimed at improving the road safety of young cyclists and motorbike riders.

The Young Rider Road Safety project is running now until the autumn with the aim of educating young cyclists and motorbike riders on road safety, and ultimately reduce the number of road casualties in West Mercia.

The report shows West Mercia are ahead of other forces nationally, having made significant improvements, changing their working habits and targeting perpetrators as well as educating potential victims.

Probation Day
This month saw the first ever Probation Day (21st August) .
I have the pleasure in highlighting our collaboration with the National Probation Service. In March, I announced jointly with other regional Commissioners and the National Probation Service, that we had commissioned Probation to run Anger Management Sessions, which help offenders move away from aggressive responses.

The cycle of violent crime has a significant impact on victims and our wider communities. These joint initiatives provide yet another avenue for Police and Courts to help offenders rehabilitate, ultimately reducing crime and making our communities safer.
