Saint Mary Children's Choir
St. Mary Children’s Choir is now accepting new and returning singers for this coming year.  We rehearse on Wednesday afternoons from 2:45-3:45 in the choir loft.  If your child is in 3rd-8th grade, they are most welcome to join us!   If this is your first year to join, please call Mrs. Sharon Silleck to let her know to look for your new singer!  614-419-5768  Our choir members learn about singing well, being a choir member, learning about our Catholic faith, understanding the Church’s liturgical year, and our essential role in the music ministry of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.   We sing at the 11:15 Masses about once a month. See you this Wednesday!
Stewardship of St. Mary of the Assumption
As part of the ongoing strategic process for Real Presence, Real Future, the Diocese of Columbus will be hosting Consultation Sessions for each parish throughout the Fall. The two sessions scheduled at St. Mary of the Assumption will be held in the Spirit Center on Saturday, October 16 and Saturday, October 23 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. The Consultation Sessions will be via Zoom videoconferencing. Facilitators will guide parishioners through important statistical and sacramental information relevant to the Diocese as a whole, to parishes in surrounding areas, as well as individual parish information.  Parishioner participation in these sessions is critical to helping shape the future of the Diocese of Columbus.

The Parish Consultation Sessions are a vital part of the planning process that encourages parishioners to offer insights and perspective on the future planning of their parish.  The feedback provided during these sessions will be used to draft new models for review by parishioners in early 2022.  The consultation process will continue throughout 2022 until final models are approved.  No decisions have been made regarding any parish, and none will be made until feedback is gathered directly from parishioners through the consultation process.

Every parishioner in the Diocese is encouraged to attend!  Please plan to participate and invite others to do the same.  Registration will open at the end of August and is required by logging onto www.realpresencerealfuture.org. (We are not sure when the registration will open online, beyond the end of August. So, you may need to check back if the registration portal is not immediately available.Even if you are not able to participate, register anyway. All registrants will receive a link to the recording via email after the session.

The first gathering for this year's Melchizedek Project is Thursday, 2 September at St. Bernadette. We get together for Mass on First Thursdays at 6 pm and then have supper and a time of fraternal support for discerning a potential vocation to the priesthood, following Fr. Brett Brannen's book To Save a Thousand Souls. Copies are provided and the program is free of charge, thanks to the Knights of Columbus and the Office of Vocations. Any high school or college-aged man is welcome to join us. Encourage and invite young men you know! RSVP to Fr. Tomson ( HERE ).
NEW PROCESS FOR INFANT BAPTISM AT ST. MARY
We’re excited to share a new baptismal preparation process at our parish that will not only be more engaging and helpful for new parents – but also more convenient with the majority of it able to be completed in the comfort of your home!  The process is outlined on the parish website but a quick overview follows (details here).

The process begins the same for any couple seeking baptism for their child – visit the Infant Baptism page on our website to download and complete the Baptism Request Form. Return the completed form to Brian McCauley at the parish office via email or printed paper copy. This will help us know how best to accompany you on this journey to live fully a family life of faith before your child’s baptism.

For those parents who will go through the process for their first child, the home preparation will feature a wonderful online series called “Belonging” featuring popular YouTuber – Fr. Mike Schmitz. Parents can together go through this seven-part series at their own pace within their family schedule. After completing the series, there will be one in-person session together – these are typically held the 1st Sunday of each month between the Masses.

Couples will be provided forms for the Catholic godparent(s) to complete that attests to their ability to serve in this role and, if there is a Christian witness, a form to complete that attests to their baptism. Once all necessary steps and forms have been completed and returned to the parish office, then a date for the child’s baptism can be scheduled. Typically, baptisms are offered the 2nd Sunday of the month at the 11.15 Mass and the 4th Sunday of the month between the Masses at 10 am.
