Pause Before Starting The Work
Slip, trips and falls are the leading cause of injuries in the Facilities Division. These types of mishaps can usually be prevented by pausing to recognize the hazard in your work task. In the photo is Kyle Fischer with the Auto Shop, utilizing an anti-fatigue mat that prevents employees from slipping when the shop floor is wet.
International Housekeeping Week
University Housekeeping would like to express its appreciation to the housekeepers for the encouraging words, big smiles and continuous support. The positive gestures and cooperation is a reminder that we are all on the same team, which helps everyone to do their job better. Your effortless expressions of kindness and support carries everyone through the challenging times. Thank you for being an incredible teammate!
Coin For Exceptional Service
Emalee Haines, Building Services and Em Jones, Budget and Accounting received a coin for exceptional service. In April when the end-of-year pressure was high, Emalee and Em willingly provided additional support for Materials Management for more than 90 days without fail and complaints. Their collaborative cross-departmental team effort allowed Materials Management to continue their expected level of daily support and to meet the divisions’ end of year goals. Barbara Hise, Director, Business Systems complimented, "both Emalee and Em are tremendous assets to the Facilities Division."
Historically Underutilized Business Advocate Of The Year
On August 27th, the Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (HCAC) hosted its Brilliance Awards for the 9th year. The HCAC Virtual Gala & Brilliance Awards 2021 is their largest annual fundraiser and awards ceremony featuring a virtual celebration, live entertainment, and the
announcement of the winners of it's Brilliance Awards, promoting and recognizing excellence in the long-term success and support of Hispanic-owned construction businesses in North Carolina. This year, our very own Shon Burch-Crispin, Capital Program Manager and HUB Coordinator, was selected for the HCAC's Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Advocate of the Year Award! Shon works extremely hard to promote opportunities for all HUB firms here at NC State, and the HCAC's recognition of Shon's outreach efforts is a testament to her commitment to the Hispanic contracting community.
