Today, we hit a grim number:

Americans living with Parkinson’s right now.

1,200,000 stories. 1,200,000 families. 1,200,000 people fighting for a world without Parkinson’s. 1,200,000 reasons to fight for a better tomorrow for all living with PD.

Three actions we can take for a better tomorrow:

Ban paraquat and trichloroethylene.

The EPA banned chlorpyrifos last week. But we need to finish the job: paraquat and trichloroethylene exposure increases risk for Parkinson’s disease, and are already banned in various regions across the world.

Make medicare coverage of telemedicine permanent.

Telemedicine has vast benefits for people seeking care: it brings care into the home, and can serve as an important tool to increase the accessibility of specialists.

That convenience should be an option for all.

Increase funding for Parkinson’s research tenfold.

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest,” said Ben Franklin.

More funding is key for developing new treatments for Parkinson’s — levodopa is over 50 years old.
