CLOSED-DOOR DIALOGUE WITH MINISTER ONG YE KUNG
 EuroCham hosted a dialogue with the Minister for Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung, and EuroCham members at the premise of BNP Paribas.

Minister Ong Ye Kung delivered a speech this afternoon where he reiterated the Singapore Government’s commitment to staying open. Read about it here:

CLOSED-DOOR DIALOGUE WITH SECRETARY-GENERAL OF NTUC
The European Chamber of Commerce and in particular the members of the Human Development committee had a dialogue with NTUC represented by Mr Ng Chee Meng, Secretary-General, and his team on 27 August 2021. Topics ranging from Sustainable Workforce to inclusiveness in the workplace and the economic attractiveness of Singapore comprised the robust discussion between the two groups. 

The meeting ended on the positive note that NTUC and EuroCham have many common interests and will continue to collaborate further in the future.

Mario Favatis
Managing Director at 
Faktion Pte Ltd

Sr. Vice President APJ at IOTech Systems, a spinoff of Dell that commercializes Open Source IoT software.

Over the past 25 years, Mario held several leadership positions in large multinationals across different industries including Software, IT & Telecom, Automotive and Public Transportation. 

Before joining IOTech, he served as Sr. Vice President at SMRT, Singapore’s largest Public Transport Operator. Mario was a member of SMRT’s executive leadership team and was the Managing Director of SMRT’s Engineering Subsidiary.

In the 10 years prior to joining SMRT, Mario held senior leadership positions at Alstom, Continental, Siemens and Oracle in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. His responsibilities focused on business development and growth, building a sustainable competitive advantage and driving change.

Mario holds a Master of Science in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the University of Brussels, an MBA from the University of Antwerp Management School and a Master of Laws from the University of Liverpool.

Darren McDermott
Team Leader
EU Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region (SHARE)

From Dublin, Ireland, Darren has lived and worked in Asia for much of the last twenty years, predominantly within the higher education and international development sectors.

Following education roles in Japan and Ireland and an MSc in Education & Training Management, Darren joined the School of Education Studies at Dublin City University as a lecturer and researcher on international education programmes. He subsequently conducted research on the internationalisation of education on a Japanese Government research scholarship at Waseda University, Tokyo.

Darren has worked on numerous EU Commission funded education development and capacity building programmes with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Member States’ ministries of education and their higher education institutions. He is a member of the Asia-Europe Foundation's (ASEF) ARC8 Expert Group on Inclusive Mobility of People and Knowledge which prepared the upcoming Outlook Report 2030: Inclusive and Diverse Higher Education in Asia and Europe.

Darren is currently Team Leader of the European Union’s Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region (SHARE) Programme. SHARE is the EU’s flagship higher education programme with ASEAN, to strengthen regional cooperation, enhance quality, regional competitiveness, and internationalisation of ASEAN higher education, contributing to the development of an ASEAN higher education space.

5 August - EuroCham organised this webinar where our moderator, Anthony Luk (The LEGO Group), and speakers, Dean Rolfe (KPMG), and Mark Addy (KPMG Singapore) shared their insights on the global minimum tax rate and discussed the specific impact for Singapore and its tax incentive regime, as well as providing us with a broader APAC perspective.

17 August - In partnership with HERE Technologies, EuroCham organised this webinar where our moderator, Mr Gopi Rengasamy (Global Strategy Group, by KPMG), and speaker and panellists, Ms Sulaizah Saptoe (HERE Technologies), Mr Jason Jameson (HERE Technologies), Ms Neo Su Yin (Singapore Post Ltd), Mr Lim Zheng Gang (foodpanda), and Mr Bee Lock OH (Singapore Logistics Association) shared their insights of the newest technologies and experimental supply chain models to increase parcel volume, expedite deliveries and delight customers in last-mile delivery.

24 August - In partnership with DutchCham, EuroCham organised this webinar where our moderator, Ms Marjolein Oyen (Innoboost), and speakers and panellists, Ms Natasha Saini (Accenture), Dr Marika Lindstrom (Unilever), Ms Doro Langer (The LEGO Group), Mr Lloyd Lowe (BASF), and Ms Sonia Gupta (Accenture) shared their insights on what direction Green Consumerism is taking the Packaging sector here in Singapore and in the ASEAN region.
