SEE YOU AT FLIGHT DECK THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 29TH!

Join us for an afternoon of hat-making, journal-binding, collaborative poetry, and wood-fired pizza at Flight Deck Brewing. We'll countdown to the close of our Online Auction together, too!

*All staff, guests, & volunteers will be expected to follow the latest protocols from Maine CDC at the in-person event*

Your participation and contributions make a huge impact on helping ArtVan continue to be a reliable presence in our neighborhoods.

For each dollar donated to ArtVan, 72% goes directly to programming, with the remaining amount used to cover administrative support, insurances, and office space. It costs roughly $500/year for a youth to participate in our programming. This includes all costs related to program planning, staff, operations, keeping the wheels rolling on our van, and insurance.

This summer, youth were encouraged to imagine what their planet could look like, who might live there, and the culture and customs of their planet’s inhabitants. One youth artist called her planet “Pennia Planet” because it looked like a penny, and described it as a peaceful planet where there’s no war, people eat moonstones, and they live in apartments.

Julianna Nelson, Therapeutic Arts Assistant, draws upon her talents as an artist, storyteller, and listener to build relationships with neighborhood youth and families. She also weaves together the many ArtVan session from each week using photographs, bright colors, and captivating patterns.

Artful August not only celebrates our ArtVan community but is an awesome way to introduce our work to your friends, too. Feel free to pass along our invite with a brief summary of our mission!

ArtVan uses our colorful van to bring the arts directly to these youth, eliminating transportation and financial barriers to access out-of-school enrichment opportunities. Programs are provided at no cost to youth and their families and there is no limit to how many and who may participate.
