End Time Prophecy, COVID, and Fear

Daily diet of fear keep depression, suicide, lawlessness at fever pitch
Salem, Oregon – January 13, 2020. That’s the official date that COVID started upending life as we knew it. Twenty months ago no one would have imagined that ordinary Americans (or other Westerners) would be loosing personal rights, their lives, their jobs, or friendships over a virus. School teachers, military, government officials – all forced to comply with government mandated strictures.

Dr. Pierre Rosa believes COVID is simply a vehicle that is softening up millions, if not billions, of people for the impending rise of the Antichrist. Not in recent history have world events and a pandemic sent so many people into fear, depression, desperation, and division. Rosa (DMin) served on staff with Dr. David Jeremiah. In his new work, The Book of Revelation: Unveiling God’s Plan for Humanity, he provides details about what we can expect in the days ahead.

Rosa says Revelation includes descriptions of churches that lost their first love or fell into immorality. He sees signs of this in today’s church that often tries to be relevant to a culture that is in moral disintegration. “Instead of telling people how to get saved, we will be really nice to them. Because if we are nice to them, they will like us. If they like us they will be interested in our religion.” Rosa calls this “ineffective methodology.”

Like in the days of Noah, people will be going about their business as usual. The Book of Revelation is God’s warning about what is ahead. “God increases the power of the weak, and decreases the power of the wicked,” says Rosa. “He exposes the Church and equips the Church to deal with sin. Christ uncovers iniquity, idolatry and rebellion, and demands faith, submission, and repentance.” He says it is prophetic because it uses future events, primarily to highlight the holiness of God and unmask the sinfulness of men.

Rosa says there many believers who simply don’t spend time in the Word. They aren’t aware of the persecution to come and clearly don’t want to be taking strong stands on issues of moral truth. “Now is out time to warn people about that day, reasoning with people, encouraging them to flee from the wrath to come.” The apostle John’s suffering should be a stark reminder that rejection by the world is a “normal part” of the life of a faithful believer. “We should expect to be abandoned and ridiculed . . . the Church needs to be divorced from the world in order to function effectively.”

While this might not sound like good news, the unmistakable message of Revelation is of God’s final justice, judgment, and redemption. This is the best news of all.
