Trail Braking Camp
Big news this month is that the course is officially created. There is no traditional classroom session. The experience is made up of 13 drill exercises: 10 riding on the fleet bikes and 3 discussion style. After all this planning, I'm looking forward to teaching the course to real riders!
I shared this press release on August 18:
Learn Big Skills on Small Motorcycles
Everyone knows, it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than it is a fast bike slow. Street Skills is now offering a one-day Trail Braking Camp on small displacement motorcycles. The course is based on the school’s Cornering Confidence book and curriculum.
As a traveling motorcycling school, Street Skills provides the bikes and coaching. Students simply arrive, participate and enjoy themselves. The goal is to develop expert level cornering skills in a scaled down and less risky environment for transferability to full street riding activities.
“These little bikes are fun to ride and make learning new skills easier,” said Jon DelVecchio, Street Skills Coach. “Parking lot courses for experienced riders make more sense on smaller motorcycles,” Jon says. “Wrestling with a full size bike in a parking lot can distract from learning new techniques.”
The Trail Braking Camp is a full-day training event with a maximum class size of eight (8). Students develop cornering skills related to braking, throttle control and hazard avoidance. Competitive challenges are included to strengthen participation and increase enjoyment.
Included in the $350 tuition price is a Cornering Confidence book and enrollment in the companion online course ($75 value).
Clubs, dealerships or riding groups can contact Jon at (585) 340-7058 or jon@streetskills.net to schedule or host an event. Visit TrailBrakingCamp.com for more information.
You're Input Counts!
I'm ready to hit the road and plan gigs in NY, PA and New England. I also have Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina in my initial territory.
Look for my guest interview on the Rider Magazine Insider Podcast in early September. Editor-in-Chief, Greg Drevenstedt, and I had a really great discussion about motorcycling, training and what's new at Street Skills these days.
If you're into motorcycles, you must subscribe to this great podcast!
Americade
I'm making my first debut at Americade this September with a bang! On Friday 9/24 I'm giving a trail braking presentation. Then, on Saturday 9/25 I'm teaching my new "Trail Braking Camp" course.
The seminar is free as an Americade University event. The micro circuit course is limited to 6 riders, and two spots have already been sold! Learn more about the course by following this link.
Can't make either event? On Friday afternoon I'll be hanging around the demo lot and Fort William Henry Conference Center outdoor area. Stop by and say hello.
The camp is priced at $350/person. Since a $20 day pass is required to attend Americade, I dropped the price to $325.
