The September 2021 edition of "Writing Life Essentials" features a hand-curated list of writing contests, grants, scholarships, submission calls, and awards. We do the research, so you have more time for what matters: the writing. Or, grabbing the last Lisa Frank folder in the back-to-school sale. That’s important, too.

Whether you're writing a space opera or a young adult memoir, a crime novel or a short story set in Albany…every story has a setting. The setting isn't just where the story happens, it is an integral part of the story. In fact, the settings act much like characters. In this short workshop, we will review different theories and pieces of craft advice to help us build well-rendered settings in any genre. Learn more.

See our upcoming short classes below, or browse our 3-hour seminars and 6-hour weekend workshops. Note: You will be able to participate in class via Zoom video conference from wherever you’re most comfortable.
