Dear Soaring Heights Families,
It has been a wonderful first two weeks of school. Students are engaged with academic learning in their classrooms. iReady testing occurred this week and the data from iReady will help teachers with differentiation within classroom instruction. We hosted our first Elementary School Movement Friday, outside in the surprise area and it was a joy to see all the students dancing and moving together. We want to express our gratitude and appreciation for the continued support as we improve our before and after school pick up / drop off traffic flows. The safety of our students, families, staff and teachers remains a high priority.
As a reminder, the iPad insurance window will close on September 10th. Additional iPad insurance information can be found below. Also, please remind your student to charge their iPads every night and to have their chargers with them in their backpacks.
Virtual Back to School Night videos will be shared with parents by teachers on Monday, August 30th.
Wednesday, September 1st will be the first late start of the school year. Late Starts provide teachers and staff Professional Development training. School will begin 2.5 hours later than normally scheduled (10:55am).
It is important that students bring a water bottle with them to school every day. We have bottle filling stations location around our halls. Please remind your student in the morning to pack a water bottle so they can have adequate hydration throughout the day. Please contact the office if you have any questions. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes,
Cyrus Weinberger, Principal

Thank you for a terrific start to school year. We are enjoying getting to know your children and are excited to establish new friendships along with our daily routines. We appreciate all of your support.
As communicated over the weekend, Soaring Heights will be adjusting our pick-up and drop-off procedures to address traffic concerns. Below is a short video outlining this new process, two maps for visuals, and some important reminders. This new process will start on Wednesday, August 25.
Important Resources:
Please review the video and important reminders to help things run as smoothly as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience.
-
Please have a sign in your vehicle window (passenger side, front windshield) with your child's FIRST and LAST name, grade, and teacher's name.
-
Please do not park in the staff parking lot; it is for drive through only.
-
After 3:10 pm you can park in the Erie High School bus loop and main parking lot and walk over to pick up your child. Please make sure all of the high school buses have departed prior to you utilizing the high school bus loop.
-
Kindergarten and preschool pickup and drop-off procedures will remain the same.

Transportation Reminders Regarding Recent Boundary Changes
Consistent with Transportation’s commitment to support families with their busing needs, eligible riders in grades 6-8 living south of Erie pkwy will continue to be transported to Soaring Heights PK-8. Open enrolled Soaring Heights elementary students living in the Highlands Elementary attendance area may be eligible for busing under the following conditions:
- There is an existing stop for students grades 6-8, which can be accessed safely by the open enrolled rider.
- All eligible riders at the stop have been assigned a seat and there is space available for additional riders.
Families who meet the following conditions and wish to be provided busing should register their student using the online form. Please note, you will be notified of your space-available request 2-3 weeks after the school year begins.

-
There is a technology tab on the Soaring Heights website that will provide many resources for support and questions.

Because SVVS is the sole owner of the iPad, repairs can only be facilitated through district processes. If you opt into the Insurance program and accidentally damage the iPad, SVVS will provide a replacement as quickly as possible at no charge for a first incident. If you choose not to opt into the Insurance program, SVVS will communicate a repair cost to you and provide a replacement.
