Hello, FDT Family & Friends!
It’s our first full month of the new season. On behalf of our instructors and company, I am so pleased you are joining us this season. We have so much happening with new students enrolling in the academy, new performances being planned, and new faces joining our organization. This is a major breath of fresh air, amidst a lot of uncertainty around the globe. Using the arts to share positivity and hope is key now more than ever.
As you know, Florida Dance Theatre is Polk County’s first and only professional dance company and training academy. We are one of the few nonprofit organizations in Lakeland dedicated to the enrichment of lives through the art of dance.
Annually, we strive to renew the energy and passion to which our young artists and students need to thrive within our four walls. Through education, outreach and entertainment, our goal is to use the art of dance to empower communities. Our work is deeply rooted in the belief that the arts are for everyone. No one should be hindered from receiving the benefits of impactful arts and cultural experiences.
All this to say, every year we have a team of professionals who volunteer their time and talent to furthering the mission of Florida Dance Theatre. Our board this year is composed of six local business women and men, educators, and arts lovers. If you see them out at events and performances, please don’t hesitate to say hello and thank them for their commitment to all of us and our community.
With gratitude,
Jermaine Thornton, Executive Director
