The Library is Open!

The Essex Free Library is open for browsing and computer use on Mondays through Fridays from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and on Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

Masks are required, regardless of vaccination status, in all public areas of the library for the safety of our young library patrons and others who cannot be vaccinated.

Meg Mott: Must Free Speech Endure Hate Speech?

Join us for a VT Humanities Program with Meg Mott. Meg will be speaking at Sand Hill Park on Must Free Speech Endure Hate Speech?. The First Amendment prevents Congress from passing any laws that abridge the freedom of speech. Should exceptions to that guarantee include hate speech?

Closed for Labor Day.

The library will be closed Saturday, September 4th and Monday, September 6th in observance of Labor Day.

Cozy Nook Craft Fair Postponed:

We are sorry to announce that the Cozy Nook Craft Fair will be postponed until next year. Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Chittenden County the Friends of the Library have made the difficult decision to postpone the fair.

Writer's Group

Online Writers’ Group – Friday, September 24^th from 9-10am

Meet with fellow writers to share and receive constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Two writers submit work in advance to be critiqued each month. To register and to sign up for a critique slot, please email ccorless@essex.org by September 17th. The writers’ group meets the final Friday of each month.

Wowbrary

Have you checked out Wowbrary? Wowbrary provides a free weekly newsletter that highlights new items that we have at the library. Wowbrary features actual physical items we have in the building as well as ebooks and audiobooks.

Sign up for the newsletter using your email address. Also check out our website at essexfreelibrary.org to browse through new books. Simply click on the image of the book or item to place a hold.

Curbside Pickup Continues

We will continue to provide curbside service to patrons. Curbside service will be provided Monday through Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-12 pm. To request items feel free to call, email us or place holds yourself through our online catalog. Also check out our Curbside Services Page on our website for more details.

Note: Free WiFi is available throughout the parking lot! We also continue to offer curbside printing services. Call us if you have any questions.

Hoopla is a digital media service that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone – and even your TV! All you need is your library card to get started!

Flipster

The library now offers Flipster. Read and enjoy digital magazines on your computer, tablet or phone! All you need is the barcode number on your library card to get started.
