The Friends of The Brainerd Public Library book sale is open for shopping, at the Westgate Mall, September 14-17 between 11 am-7 pm. Please enter through the service door at the front of the mall (door labeled Book Sale). Donations may also be dropped off on Tuesdays, between 9 am-3 pm (except Sept. 14 + 21). The Brainerd Book Club will meet on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 1 pm in the library's large meeting room for our next book discussion: Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano. This novel begins with twelve-year-old Edward Adler, his beloved older brother, his parents, and 183 other passengers boarding a flight in Newark headed for Los Angeles. Halfway across the country, the plane crashes, and Edward is the sole survivor. Edward’s story captures the attention of the nation, but he struggles to find a place in a world without his family. Copies of this book are available at the front desk.

Please join us via Zoom for Two-Old-Fashioned Favorites: Peonies and Clematis with Master Gardener Jennifer Knutson. The peony is one of the most popular and showy of the garden perennials grown in Minnesota gardens. Clematis are bold and beautiful climbing plants. Information will be presented on the different types of peonies and clematis, how to care for them, and some companion plants that combine well with them in a garden.
