Pre-Fall Sermon Series

August 29 ~ Wisdom to Care for the Poor
Elizabeth Sendek preaching

In-person Worship with masks 9:00 & 10:30 AM

Online Worship via our website fpcsantarosa.org

We welcome mission partners Don and Elizabeth Sendek. They have recently retired from their leadership roles—Elizabeth serving as President and Don as Chaplain--at the Biblical Seminary in Medellin, Colombia and now are enjoying some rest here in California before returning to serve the seminary, people of Colombia, and the Latin American Church in other ways. A faculty colleague and United World Mission co-worker, David Baer, had this to say about the work of the Sendeks:

As president of a critical institution in the Spanish-speaking Americas, Elizabeth has been a transformative leader…. she all but defines the concept, an achievement that would be only a dream without Don’s support and dear company. Their vocation touches in one way or another all generations and inhabited spaces of the Latin American evangelical family, although they have remained resolutely rooted in Colombia for so many decades. Indeed, the ways in which Elizabeth has been honored in International venues over these last 18 months demonstrates that the Sendeks' influence goes far beyond the continent on which they serve.

Over the years, Patrice and Steve Frary, Audrey and Peter Schell, Tim Stafford, and Byron and Tanya Whitlock, have visited the Sendeks and the seminary in Colombia to extend our congregation’s personal support and encouragement. Tim wrote this about Don and Elizabeth: What stands out to me is the Sendeks' warm and supportive partnership as a married couple, their life-long commitment to serving Jesus' church and sharing the good news with people all through Colombia, and their careful, thoughtful style. It's our privilege to be part of their team.

City Kids Festival Recap by Francesca Thompkins:   With the partnership of local churches Redwood Gospel Mission was successful in distributing much-needed school supplies and the love of our Lord to 400 children and their families.  The First Pres game booth had a steady stream of happy kids throughout the day. I am especially grateful to Debbie Perry, Theo and Jan Thomas, Dave Berg and Catherine Barnard, and Bella Rutkowski for their enthusiasm in playing with the children and making the day a huge success.
