MESSAGE FROM DANIEL

Dear friends in Christ, peace be with you. If you have not yet seen the updated COVID-19 protocols for in-person, indoor ministry with all age groups, please find them below. These do not apply to the celebration of the Mass.

Update to COVID-19 Protocols
If you haven’t yet seen the update to our protocols for in-person ministry, there are some important changes you should know about.
  • While the COVID positivity rate in your county is 8% or higher, masks will be required for all indoor activities, including children’s catechesis, youth ministry, and adult ministry.
  • When the transmission status in your county is reduced below the 8% positivity rate, masks will become optional.
Parish Protocols for in person catechesis, youth ministry, and adult formation regarding participants or volunteers that have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19 are as follows:

Vaccinated
  • People who are fully vaccinated are allowed to return to parish activities after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms. However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 3-5 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and continue to wear a mask indoors following exposure.
Non-Vaccinated
  • Non-vaccinated may not return to parish for 14 days following an exposure or can show proof of a positive COVID-19 illness within the past 3 months and have no symptoms (for example, cough, shortness of breath).
Anyone who is experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 must refrain from attending and participating in catechetical classes or events.

Upcoming Ministry Professionals Gathering: The Call and Charisms of Ministry Leaders, September 2, 9:30am-2:30pm
We enter ministry with the burning desire and joy of bringing the Good News to the People of God. As ministry leaders, though, we sometimes can be overwhelmed with administrative tasks or challenges that come with our responsibilities. Fortunately, God has given us all we need to thrive despite those challenges and many great role models in Church history that show us how. Let’s gather and grow our ministry through these stories of Christian leadership.

As we start the new year, Deacon Dave Camous, our Director of the Permanent Diaconate, will lead this day to help us step into our role as ministry leaders, calling upon the gifts the Lord has given us to produce great fruit for the Kingdom. We invite you and anyone from your parish who is involved in ministry leadership to attend and start the ministry year off on the right foot.

Answer the Call – Retreats for Catechists, Liturgical Ministers, Volunteers, and all Catholics!
“Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.” (Deus Caritas Est, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, 1). As you have seen, many people who have been baptized and confirmed and who dedicate much of their time to the Church have not had such an experience. The purpose of these retreats is to address this reality by helping everyone in ministry recognize that Jesus is not just an idea, He is a personal God who draws near to us and wants to remain always with us. We invite everyone in your parish, especially volunteers involved in ministry, to attend these Answer the Call retreats so that they can come to know Jesus in a profound way.

Our first Answer the Call retreat of the year is coming up on September 18 at St. Mary of the Lakes in Eustis, FL. Cost is $15 and lunch is included.

Where: St. Mary of the Lakes, Eustis, FL
When: Saturday, September 18, 9:00am - 2:00pm
