Football Jamboree vs. Rummel

Friday, August 27, 2021 | Hunter Stadium 

• 5:15pm for any new band member who has not been fitted for a uniform, shoes, or hat
• 6:00pm for everyone else at the Briggs Assembly Center

•  Boys attire: Marching Wolves dri-fit shirts, khaki shorts, tennis shoes, and SPS uniform socks
• Golden Blues: Blue formal attire

 
Prior to the Jamboree, we will be fitting uniforms for the new band members who have joined since band camp and any member who did not get fit for shoes or a hat. All new members please arrive at the Briggs Assembly Center at 5:15pm for uniform fitting. 
 
We are only fitting the uniforms this week, NOT wearing them! Attire for the Jamboree is listed above.
 
The Jamboree starts at 6pm with the JV “game” followed by the varsity “game.” The band will arrive sometime before the Varsity game begins.

Booster Club General Meeting

The Marching Wolves Booster Club General Meeting for all band and Golden Blues parents has been moved to Tuesday night, August 31, 2021, at 7:00pm in the Briggs Assembly Center.

Please plan to attend this important meeting. Disney permission paperwork will be handed out and financial details of the trip will be given. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Football Concessions & Gate Volunteers

The only way that we are able to keep our cost of membership so low is by earning money from concessions and the gate at football games.  We rely on this income to allow the Marching Wolves to participate in many activities including away football games, Mardi Gras parades, and Festival Disney. We cannot operate without the help of parent volunteers.

During Mardi Gras season we will need many parents to help as parade chaperones. In order to qualify to chaperone a parade, we require that you have volunteered for concessions and/or the gate. Volunteer hours are tracked and parades assigned accordingly. 

Thank you to those who have already volunteered for football games. At this time, you may sign up for any available shifts that you would like to work.  
Things to remember when signing up:
-It goes without saying, but please sign up only for games where you are AVAILABLE! 
-Volunteers must stay in concessions during halftime. Gate workers are dismissed at the start of the 3rd quarter.
-If you cannot work a shift you’ve signed up for, your spouse is always able to work in your place.
-If you (or your spouse) are unable to work a shift you signed up for, PLEASE let the board know ASAP by texting Letha Tepper at 985-789-8718 or emailing spsmarchingwolves@gmail.com.
-We will use the BAND app to communicate any shift openings.

Make-Up Picture Day

September 3, 2021 | 5:00pm | Briggs Assembly Center
Arrival time: 4:30pm
 
For any new band member or any band member who missed band camp, Joey Michel will be shooting individual pictures on Friday, September 3^rd prior to the Landry Walker game.
 
*IMPORTANT* Joey will be very pressed for time so it is important that your student shows up early and gets dressed quickly in order to have his picture taken.

Marching Wolves Dri-Fit Shirt

If you have not already done so, please order your dri-fit shirt from Uniforms By Bayou. The band will wear their dri-fit shirt on their first performance during the Jamboree on Friday, August 27. We wear this shirt throughout the year when we don't wear the full band uniform. Boys may wear this shirt to school on game days.

MW Apparel Pick Up

If you ordered Marching Wolves apparel from the online store, some of the orders have been delivered. You may pick up your items from the home side concession stand on Friday after 4:30 or at the meeting on Tuesday. 

Additionally, we will be selling our remaining Marching Wolves tee shirts at the concession stand and at the meeting on Tuesday. Cost is $15.

Free Athletic and Band Physicals

If you have not yet had the chance to get your son or daughter his or her physical, this will be the final free opportunity before the season begins.
 
All Marching Wolves are required to have a current physical on file. Physicals expire one year from the date it was signed and dated by the MD, DO, APRN, or PA. Attending this free opportunity will fulfill your student’s physical requirement for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
 
If Golden Blues have a physical on file with SSA, that meets their requirement.
 
What to bring to free physicals: 
1.Athletic Physical packet filled out completely including parent signatures.
2.Copy of birth certificate

While emails and the website are our primary means of communication, the Marching Wolves also use the communication app, BAND. 

The purpose of this announcement text messaging app is to improve timely delivery of last-minute information and alerts to parents. BAND app offers us a safe and simple way to instantly text parents of last-minute performance changes, concession volunteer openings, and anticipated arrival times at school after parades and away games.
