On 30 August 2011, Spectrum reported on how often autism and eating disorders co-occur. Since then, there’s been growing recognition of a link between autism and anorexia, both of which can involve a fondness for routines and rituals. People with anorexia are more likely to be autistic than those without it, research shows. And a large study last year found that autism traits in children seemed to predict disordered eating in adolescents.
