This afternoon, we were informed that a child who attended Sunday School and the 11 AM worship service on Sunday, August 22 developed a fever on Tuesday and tested positive for COVID today, Wednesday. The parents believe their child (who has mild symptoms) was infected attending a public school that had not implemented the mask mandate.
We have contacted individuals who were in close proximity last Sunday and recommend heightened vigilance for those who were present at church.
The Children's Sunday School class will be conducted via ZOOM this Sunday from 10-11 AM.
Please consider the following steps to enhance personal safety as the city experiences a "severe" level COVID surge:
1. If you have a reliable Internet connection and have returned to on-site worship, consider participating in worship online until local conditions improve (as they have in the past). These conditions can be monitored on the website of San Antonio Metro Health.
2. Continue practicing the safety protocols with which you are already familiar: social distancing, limiting unnecessary social interactions, wearing filtration masks, enhanced hygiene, monitoring your own health.
3. Isolate if you suspect you may be infected. Seek a test and seek medical attention when appropriate.
4. If you have attended in person and have a positive COVID test result, please inform the pastors so an appropriate advisory can be issued to others. If you have not attended in person and experience any illness, please notify the pastors for support in prayer.
