ETF's Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Celebrating another successful year

It's always one of the highlights of the year and plans are in full swing for ETF's AGM for 2020/2021.  The event will take place on Friday 29th October 2021, Zoom, time to be confirmed, so remember to put the date in your diary. 

A mailing will take place next week which will contain the papers for the AGM, which includes:
  • An invitation to submit a membership application for your Tenants' and Residents' group to become a member of ETF or for you to become an individual member of the Federation;
  • An invitation to nominate a member of your group to join the Federation's Executive Committee (EC).
Applications to become a member of ETF and nominations to become an EC member must be received in the ETF office by Friday 15th October 2021.  If anyone in your group is interested in becoming an EC member and would like to chat about what is involved in the role, please email us by clicking here or phone 0131 475 2509.

Scottish Housing Day

Housing and the climate emergency

This year's Scottish Housing Day will take place on Wednesday 15th September 2021 and the topic is housing and the climate emergency.  You can find out more about Scottish Housing Day by clicking here

ETF had hoped to arrange an information session on Wednesday 15th September 2021 to discuss Scottish Housing Day in more detail.  However due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has had to be cancelled.  ETF would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

CEC Rent Consultation

Your chance to respond

CEC will shortly be launching its Rent Consultation for 2022/2023.  This is an ideal opportunity for tenants to help shape the future of housing in Edinburgh and ETF would encourage all CEC tenants to take this opportunity to have their say and help shape the future of housing in Edinburgh.  Watch this space for further details. 

Federation Meeting

'All about the money: Tenants' rents, services and investments'

Rents will be the topic at our next Federation Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday 22nd September 2021, Zoom, 7.00pm-9.00pm.   In preparation for CEC's forthcoming rent consultation, you will have the chance to:
  • Find out what CEC's tenants' rent money pays for;
  • How tenant priorities are agreed and delivered on;
  • Receive details of the advice and support provided to tenants about paying their rent;
  • Help forumulate ETF's response to CEC's Rent Consultation;
  • Discuss ETF's quarterly Progress Report for April-June 2021.

ETF Office Update
If you've been following the work of ETF, then you'll know that staff have been working from home during the pandemic.  Although restrictions have started to ease, there are still no overall changes to ETF's situation with the Federation Office remaining closed and staff working from home.  ETF continues to operate from Monday to Friday and staff can be contacted via email by clicking here or phone 0131 475 2509.

The Albion Trust continues to liaise with the Scottish Government, other Norton Park service users and ourselves and will keep us informed when it is safe for Norton Park to re-open.  We will continue to keep you updated.  In the meantime, please stay safe and take care. 
Working online
Although restrictions are beginning to ease, it is likely that online work will remain in place for ETF for the foreseeable future.  As a result, digital working, training and participation are priorities for the Federation.  ETF staff can offer you any support you need.  If you have a computer, smartphone or tablet and would like to take part or know more, please email ETF's Development Worker Mark Henry by clicking here or phone 07918 742468.

People Know How finalists in Scottish Charity Awards
People Know How (PKH) has been selected as a finalist in the Scottish Charity Awards and are now collecting votes for the People’s Choice Award.  The charity are finalists in the Digital Citizens category, in recognition of the work they’ve done over the last year to provide devices, digital skills and connectivity to thousands of people across Edinburgh and East Lothian during the pandemic.  While a judging panel will determine the winners under the nine distinct categories, members of the public can have their say by voting for their favourite overall entry in the People’s Choice Award!

Review of the Scottish Social Housing Charter
The Scottish Government is currently consulting on its Charter, which contains the outcomes and standards that all social housing landlords are required to meet on behalf of tenants and other customers.  All social housing landlords must report to the Scottish Housing Regulator annually on how they are performing against each of the charter outcomes.

ETF would like to encourage you to find out more about the current Charter and respond to the Charter consultation.  You can find out more about the current charter by clicking here.  You can respond to the consultation and give your views by clicking here.  The closing date for responses to the consultation is Thursday 9th September 2021
Warm Home Discount
Are you interested in getting £140 discount off your electricity bill, or £140 credit to your prepayment meter? The Warm Home Discount is not widely advertised, so you may not have heard of it.  Many householders who are eligible for this discount have no idea it exists and  Changeworks are trying to spread the word about it.  You can find out more the Warm Home Discount and whether you're eligible to apply for it by clicking here
Edinburgh Public Holiday
The Federation Office will be closed on Monday 20th September 2021 as it's the Edinburgh Public Holiday.
