ST AUGUSTINE'S FEAST DAY CELEBRATIONS - 29th AUGUST
There will be an opportunity to mark the feast day at St Augustine's this Sunday 29th August between the 8.30 am Mass and the 11.30 am Mass with some cakes and drinks. There will also be an opportunity to continue the celebrations after the 11.30 am Mass until around 1.15 pm.

This is a chance to celebrate not only one of our patrons but also an opportunity to celebrate the ability to profess our faith once more in public.

There will also be an opportunity to discover more about some of the groups that are present at St Augustine's and maybe even a chance to join them!

Reflection on this Sunday's Scripture Readings

Depaul UK is part of Depaul International – parent of the worldwide family of charities that works with people who are homeless. Click on the link above to know more.

This work is inspired by the values of Saint Vincent de Paul (1581-1660), a major social reformer in 17th century France. Saint Vincent de Paul reached out to the poor and the disenfranchised, valuing each and every person.

He attracted a large group of supporters and volunteers, whom he inspired with his love for the poor, building bridges between rich people and those living in poverty. Vincent de Paul devoted his life to helping the poor, sick and needy, and was canonised in 1737. He is often referred to as “the Saint of Charity”.

DePaul UK have been commissioned to offer two of their prevention services here in Milton Keynes, Reconnect and Nightstop – so that no young person will have to experience hidden homelessness or rough sleeping. Click above to find out more.

REQUIESCAT IN PACE
Please pray for all of our loved ones who have died recently:
In a special way, please pray for Bob Nutt whose funeral took place during the week in Plymouth.  Bob was a long-time parishioner at Christ the King.
Please also pray for:
Dawn Goff and Martin Stackpoole whose funerals take place on Friday 10th September.

"Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light come upon them. May they rest in peace! Amen!"

The Collection is Going Digital!
Most of us carry very little cash around with us these days and we are used to paying for things with a credit or debit card. More recent, technology has allowed us to simply tap our, card, phone or even watch on a card reader to pay for goods up to £45. At a few of our parishes we are trialing a similar method for contributing to the weekly collection. You will find a reader, and someone to help, in the foyer as you enter and leave the church. Why not give it a go!
The Cornerstone  Cafe is Open Again!
The Cafe at Christ the Cornerstone is open 8.30 am – 3.00 pm Monday– Friday, serving hot and cold drinks, freshly made sandwiches, toasties, paninis, home-made cakes and scones, hot snacks, soup made in the kitchen, and specialities like omelettes and crêpes.
If you are in or around the city centre during the week, do drop in for a drink or a snack. Meet up with friends for a chat over a cup of coffee.
Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary 8th September 2021
There will be a gathering on Wednesday 8th September meeting outside the Church of Christ the Cornerstone, MK9 2ED

From next Friday 3rd  September 2021 at 8:00 pm, and every first Friday of the month thereafter, there will be an opportunity to take part in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for an "Hour of Grace"  at St Augustine's Catholic Church, Heelands (MK13 7PL).

This is a fantastic opportunity to spend time with Jesus - so don't miss out! Invite a friend, bring your family, and allow the Lord of the Harvest to refresh us spiritually!
