The Favor of God.
I always marvel each month as I send the wire transfer of your gifts to East Africa.
I marvel at your generosity and faithfulness.
I marvel at the consistency and commitment of our African staff to care for so many, so well in Jesus' name.
But, perhaps I don't marvel often enough at the absolute favor of God toward me, my family and this ministry.
This month I am violating the advice of traditional charitable ministries when it comes to raising support and encouraging the giving of our partners.
I have been told (by more than one) over the years to avoid talking too much about our success. And, whatever you do, don't tell people the amounts of money that God provides for certain projects.
The thinking of the those giving the advice is, if people see that you are doing well, God is blessing, and it appears you have a lot of money, people will be discourage to give and will seek out more "needy" ministries to invest in.
I DON'T BELEIVE THAT!
I believe that giving begets giving. I believe that stories of God's faithful provision are used by the Spirit to spur us on to greater works and greater giving. I believe you give based on what God says, not only on what you see. I believe that you, like I, are looking for those places where God is at work and we hasten to join Him in His work.
So....get ready to enjoy some great stories of the favor of God this month.
The needs? Oh, they are still there. The list never goes away. But they are on the back page. God's provision is on the front page.
