PechaKucha Night Storytelling Returns to Downtown Bridgeport!
A "Larger than Life" story event for adults is on Sunday, Aug 29th at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT.
An exciting night of stories named PechaKucha Night Bridgeport is a free hybrid in-person and virtual event! Our cast of amazing tellers from CT, CA, India and Japan will share personal stories that are larger than life! Our host is Lauren Coakley Vincent of the Downtown Special Services District.
PechaKucha is a fast-paced visual storytelling night where tellers speak with 20 photos that are projected on the big screen for 20 seconds each. PechaKucha events originated in Japan and now take place in 1200 cities around the world and Bridgeport CT is one of them!
Join us to hear true personal stories on the theme "Larger than Life" at the downtown Cabaret Theatre in-person or join us through the live stream on "YouTube" on Sunday, August 29th at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. It's free to attend. Doors open at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre at 5:00 PM. 

Food will be available for purchase from "A Pinch of Salt", Chef Raquel Rivera. Seating is at tables in a cabaret style setting. The Cabaret Theatre is located at 263 Golden Street #3, Bridgeport, CT.
Hear Cynthia Rojas's gripping journey to find her grandparents who went missing during Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, Ricky Mestre's uncommon adventure with Ricky Martin fans in multiple countries to snag a ticket for a meet and greet ticket and Priyanka Chatterjee's experiences with Bollywood culture. Mark Dytham, the co-founder of PechaKucha joins the cast from Japan!

Our other great stories from Erica Blumfield (CA), John Chamberlain (CT), Priyanka Chatterjee (India). Sam Diaz (CT), Scott. Davis (CT), Delayne Gratopp (CT), Vicki Juditz (CA), Beth Lazar (CT), Nina Lesiga (CT), Mia Lipstick (CT) and Miyo Yamauchi (CA). It will be a night not to be missed!
PechaKucha Night is an exciting, fun night of listening to personal stories from people across disciplines to spark conversation, new ideas and collaborations.

Metered parking is free on Sundays in downtown Bridgeport.  In addition there is a parking lot directly across from the Cabaret Theatre.

Sept 11, 2021, 6pm Artists' Talk for this exhibit of healing and memorial at Five Points Annex Gallery, Torrington CT. Exhibiting artists are: Carlos Bautista Biernnay, Dan Makara, Iyaba Ibo Mandingo, Mark Rich, Scott Schuldt, with words of healing by Rev. Ina Anderson.
A confluence of artists connected to Bridgeport, make a brief stop in Torrington. Works share commonalities regarding aesthetic and imagery, tempering stark reality with nostalgia, absurdity and humor.

This exhibit recognizes this extraordinary time in history, to process feelings and acknowledge the fallout of recent hardships, challenges, alternative facts, and protests, that tested beliefs, relationships, and loyalties, exposing who we are, what we need to mend and cherish.

Stories on the Farm
Saturday, Aug 28th at 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Reservoir Community Farm
1469 Reservoir Ave., Bridgeport, CT
Storytelling Concert of Personal Stories for all ages - free
Reservoir Farm becomes the stage for a free outdoor performance of true, personal stories by professional storyteller, Nina Lesiga. Nina tells stories of adventure from her youth to the present. The stories Nina will share are about surprise discoveries about eating potatoes, a family dog, a message in a bottle and playing her ukulele in uncommon places.

Sharing stories is one way to build community. We hope these stories will spark conversation and the sharing of stories at Reservoir Farm and beyond. The performance takes place during the Saturday farmers market where you can purchase fresh locally grown ORGANIC produce from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Reservoir Community Farm is located at 1469 Reservoir Ave. in Bridgeport, CT.

Nina Lesiga is the host of the Bridgeport Art Trail Story Exchange.  She’s performed nationally on PBS’s “Stories on the Stage” and in CT at The Children’s Museum, The Barnum Museum, the CT Historical Society the Greenwich Historical Society, The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center and at the International Arts & Ideas Festival. Nina is excited about bringing a storytelling performance to Reservoir Community Farm.

On Thursday, September 2, the Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) will reopen the Burt Chernow Galleries and the Museum with a grand collective exhibition: Big Art Bash 2021.

The wide-ranging group show will feature FOUR exhibits of work by Jon Schueler, Jongil Ma, Eric Chiang and an exhibition that explores male dominance of women. The public is invited to attend this exciting, FREE opening event from 5:30pm - 7pm, which will include live music by the Joe Mennonna Trio and light refreshments. HMA is located on the Housatonic Community College (HCC) campus, located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in Bridgeport, CT.

The Housatonic Museum of Art is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit, Lost Man Blues: Jon Schueler – Art and War, curated by Marissa Roth. The show will feature twenty-six paintings and selected writings by the esteemed, prolific American abstract expressionist that reflect his war experiences. The exhibition, which takes its title from a piece commemorating the disappearance of a plane belonging to his squadron, will open on September 2 and be on view through October 8, 2021.

Curator Marissa Roth will offer a talk on Thursday, September 2 at 6pm.
