Powerful Love

2 Peter 1:12
I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.

It isn’t the mysterious, unknowable spiritual things that change us. It’s the simple but profound truths of Scripture that we can know, understand, and deeply sink our roots into that change our lives. Peter, writing to a group of believers, tells them he will keep reminding them of things they already know because they are worth remembering again. One foundational truth I want you to remember is that Jesus loves you. Sometimes life-events make us wonder if God still loves us: How could this be happening if He does? But I want to remind you that no matter what your circumstances are, He does love you and He will help you make it through whatever you are facing. This little chorus brings me comfort when I find myself doubting: “Jesus loves me—this I know, for the Bible tells me so; little ones to Him belong—they are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.”

THINK ABOUT IT
Is Jesus’ love for you at the center of your awareness, or have you allowed it to drift to the edges? Does His love for you affect your daily thoughts and actions?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me to continually remember and recount Your steadfast love and faithfulness as I face each day. When doubt arises, may I trust in the simple truths expressed in Your Word to guide me toward hope and forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
