Education and Art
Farah's powerful weapons in the face of hardship
---
At the age of eleven, while living through a siege, violence, and displacements, Farah never stopped creating art out of her surroundings and learning and attending school.
It wasn’t until 2018 when a shell bomb hit close to her home and she got sick. Her reading and writing abilities dropped due to her absence from school, and when Farah’s family had moved again, she lost her father and he was never seen again.
Shortly after returning home, a UNICEF-supported team discussed Farah’s education with her and her mother. Eventually, she was able to rejoin regular school after self-learning classes. As of last year, she is highly dedicated to working hard at school and continuing to make handicrafts.
“I’m good at art and wish to become as good at reading,” Farah says, “I will forever wait for my father to come back to show him my handicrafts. I also want to read texts out loud to him like I used to do before.”
