How Ministry Works
Over the past 4+ weeks my mind has been all over the place, but rarely settled on one thought for too long. At one point in the ICU, I thought, “I don’t think I got the volunteer schedule done for Sunday!” (BTW, I didn’t) But I was struck by and found peace in the fact that GraceLife is filled with humble, ministry-minded individuals that faithfully serve, and with no desire for recognition – greeters, ushers, LG leaders, audio/production techs, and so many more that serve each week for the Lord’s glory, and not their own. THANKS to all of you!

Bill Elliff highlights this well in his blog – “But there are millions of humble men and women who are wonderfully used by God to advance His kingdom. We may not hear their names until heaven, but before God and others one day they will be greatly rewarded, and we will see the marvelous fruits of their faithful lives.”

Happy Thursday GraceLife Family!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the Awana carnival. The boys and girls had a great time playing in the foam and bubbles, sliding down the water slide, playing Gaga ball and running through the obstacle course.  — Pastor Dave

Next Wednesday, September 1 is our first regular night of Awana. All children ages 2 through the 6th grade are invited to come and participate. Awana is a great ministry that emphasizes Scripture memory. It is a privilege as a leader to be able to listen to boys and girls recite Scripture each week.

At the moment we are in need of some additional weekly Awana volunteers – especially in the Sparks (kindergarten through 2nd grade) age group to listen to verses and encourage the boys and girls. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping with this ministry!

It’s important that we help our kids develop a healthy view of their bodies as something that God created and intends us to use for His good purpose. However, many of us struggle with how to help our kids with that given our own issues with understanding our bodies from God’s perspective. As this article shows, God made our bodies and it matters to Him what we do with them. I hope this is practical and helpful and know that I’m praying for you and your family! Let me know if you need anything! — Pastor Jonathan

Hebrew 4:14-16

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

I heard this said the other day, "your sin is not greater than His blood." I thought what a profound statement. There are times when you may feel that because of your sin or past sins, drawing close to God is difficult or impossible. But you could not be further from the Truth. Because of Jesus' work on the cross, sinful and imperfect people can be restored to Him. His blood and grace are greater than any sin. So stop believing lies that say otherwise. In reality, it is a form of pride. Every day we can come confidently into the Throne room of God to receive the mercies that are new each morning. There is something special about gathering together with people who have spent their week at the foot of His throne. This Sunday, we will do that very thing. We come together to glorify the name of Jesus and worship our God for all He has done. Here are the songs we will sing together.

Grateful
Thank You Jesus For The Blood
Do It Again

Join us at GraceLife for a one-night simulcast event. Laugh and learn with your spouse as you hear from marriage experts and discover how to honor God in your marriage. Dinner will be provided. It will $20 per/person.

Marriage Night will bring together thousands of husbands, wives, and engaged couples to hear from J.D. and Veronica Greear, Aaron & Jamie Ivey, Jonathan & Kanika Evans, and comedian Dustin Nickerson.

Healthy marriages do not happen by accident. They require work and dedication, but with the busyness of life and the pressures of culture it is easy to lose focus. What is marriage supposed to look like when the initial bursts of excitement give way to everyday troubles and routines?

Marriage Night is an opportunity to get practical answers to this question.

Attendees will get expert teaching and principles for a lasting relationship while being challenged to see the greater purpose of marriage—to glorify God and advance the Gospel. Marriage is made for more than a fairy tale ending. It is a picture of God’s hope and redemption for a world in need of rescue.
