Sunday 29th August, 8am and 10am
|
|
As it will be the fifth Sunday of the month, this week we will have traditional Order One Holy Communion at 8am and 10am. As usual, the 8am service will be spoken only and the 10am service will include music. 8am will be in person only but 10am will be in person and by Zoom.
Here is the order of service. You will only need to print/access this if you are joining by Zoom at 10am; the usual service booklet will be supplied in church. This is the same order of service as on previous second Sundays, so you may already have printed it. Here also are the hymns and readings - again, only needed if you are joining by Zoom.
If you'd like to explore this Sunday's readings and ideas with all ages in your family here is this week's Activity Sheet.
As safe as possible ...
Please note that, although the wearing of face masks in church is no longer compulsory, we ask you to continue to wear one if at all possible.
We will have a little discussion on Sunday, to see how you are feeling about masks, singing, standing to sing etc.
Zoom Details for 10am
The Zoom link will be the usual one for Sunday services: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86563973122?pwd=SWtUY1pqNXJJdWFMSCtXc2hCTWhUdz09

Many people are concerned about the situation in Afghanistan and are seeking ways they can help.
The organisation Welcome Churches, has set up an emergency fund to help support Afghan families who are being relocated from Afghanistan to the UK for their safety.
Find out more here.
And here is a prayer for the people of Afghanistan which we will say in Church on Sunday:
A prayer for Afghanistan:
O God of mercy and of peace,
We hold before you the peoples of Afghanistan.
Be living bread to those who are hungry each day.
Be healing and wholeness to those who have no access to health care amidst the ravages of pandemic.
Be their true home to all who have been displaced.
Be open arms of loving acceptance to those who fear because of their gender, ethnicity, religious or political views.
Be peace to those engaged in armed conflict and those who live within its shadow.
Turn our hearts and minds to your ways of just and gentle peace,
Open our eyes to see you in all acts of compassionate care.
Strengthen our hearts to step out in solidarity with your suffering people and hold us all in your unfailing love.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who emptied himself of all but love in order to bring life in all its fullness.
Amen

Creative Writing Quiet Day

Sadly, this clashes with Ride and Stride, but may be more your thing ...

“In the beginning was the Word…”
A Creative Writing Quiet Day
Saturday 11 September 2021 10am - 3pm
Bring your own lunch, drinks will be provided.
There is something special about creative writing that brings us into the presence of Jesus. The Living Word meets us as we express to God the thoughts and desires of our hearts. On this quiet day, there will be space to prayerfully experiment with words and ways of writing, and an opportunity for spiritual refreshment, as we listen to what God might be saying in us and through us.
Leader: Rev. David Kichenside, Team Vicar of Holy Trinity South Chatham. David has been a parish priest for 10 years and a dabbler in things creative and artistic for as long as he can remember.

This year's Ride & Stride will take place on Saturday 11th September.
It's not too late to take part. Please contact Aline (07771 636872, email) for a sponsor form.
We now have a rota of people willing to look after the church gazebo (! yes, it was so much fun meeting walkers, riders and passers-by last year, that the refreshment gazebo is coming out again). Thank you to you if you have offered to help!
