1. Upcoming:  Unveiling of Sedgefield’s ‘Love Bug’
Tomorrow, we will be unveiling the next installation that forms part of the Interactive Art Route.  Thanks to Masithandane and their Mosaic Team, with the support of the community, we look forward this new addition to Sedgefield’s Mosaic Route.  Due to the current regulations, attendance is by invitation, but we will be sharing photos of the unveiling on our social media platforms.
2. RTO Meeting – presentations
In last week’s newsletter, we advised that we had participated in the Regional Tourism Organisations (RTO) meeting, alongside the other tourism offices, WESGRO and DEDAT.  Of the presentations done here, we’d like to share the following with you: In addition, WESGRO’s Units shared updates on their activations:
3. Garden Route Film Office – 48 Hour Film Race
Are you a filmmaker or enthusiast looking for your next project? It’s time for the annual 48 Hour Film Race where you have 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a movie.  It takes place over the weekend of 17 – 19 September, with registration for participation closing at 12h00 on Wednesday, 15 September 2021.  This forms part of the Garden Route International Film Festival. Read more here

To encourage South Africans to get vaccinated in numbers, the tourism sector is getting behind a #Jab4Tourism campaign, led by industry leaders and organisations.  SATSA shared the following content:  Read more here
5. Reminder:  Sho’t Left Travel Week - register
From South African Tourism:  Participating in Travel Week is easy and all you need to do is register at https://deals.southafrica.net/ and start loading your great deals. Remember to provide discounts of up to 50%, Travel deal dates to suit your business, and flexibility that works for the traveller. Let's get South Africans travelling again.   Closing for the uploading of deals onto the site is before 3 September, with sale week being from 6 – 12 September 2021.  Queries can be sent to travelweek@southafrica.net .
6. SAT: Lilizela Success Stories of Survival
South African Tourism have embarked on a tactical initiative to honour, acknowledge and collect the stories of tourism products that have been innovative within their businesses and found creative ways to keep their doors open and/or retain their employees.   This initiative is in place, for now, in lieu of the annual Lilizela Awards.  The intention with this initiative is to honour these heroes that have been able to keep their businesses open, share their stories, salute them for their courage and thank them for their resilience.

7. SAT:  Africa’s Travel and Tourism Summit 2021
South African Tourism is hosting Africa’s Travel and Tourism Summit “Reawakening Africa” from 20 – 12 September 2021.  Should you be interested in participating in this, read more here
8. GRDM advert:   Call for Applications – Cater Care Training Programme
From the Garden Route District Municipality, the advertisement that was placed this week in the George Herald for the “Cater Care (Food Handler) Training Programme” for youth in the district to apply.  This is open to all interested unemployed youth that meet the requirements and criteria, as stipulated in the document. Closing date for applications is 3 September 2021.  Read more here
