What Is Up! Welcome to FOUR Thing FRIDAY.

Hi Hi Hi and Hi! We are back with another instalment of Three Thing Thursday. The only fun and informative newsletter that comes out a day late and then renames itself Four Thing Friday because it loves alliteration so damn much.

This is a quick and tight one with a guest feature from my content creator brother out in Indiana USA, Jon Kuhn.

1. Learn from my racing failures.
And then maybe you can race smarter, better faster and stronger. Learn here.

2. Why is running so white?
This is a 2011 article by Jay Jennings that is STILL relevant today. I'm thinking about doing a deep dive based around this concept but from more of a personal angle (gonzo journalism style?!). Read it here.

3. Jon Kuhn on running streaks

One Minute a Day

Currently, I am on day 38 of a running streak. For my streak to stay active I told myself I had to run a minimum of ten minutes a day or one mile. If I run a mile quicker than 10 minutes I need to run to make up for the additional minutes. If I run a seven-minute mile I run three more minutes to meet the minimum.

It isn’t about running for ten minutes.

Yes, some mornings I have run just ten minutes. I think that has honestly only happened twice, maybe three times.

So why such a small standard if that isn’t what I end up doing? Why not raise the bar a little?

I think we often set our standards too high. We add too much to our do lists. We grossly overestimate how much we can actually get done on any given day.

I often suffer from falling in love with the idea of who I could be versus who I actually am.

Read the rest here.

A bit on Jon Kuhn the Youtube content creator and stoic meditative boss;
"I started running because I didn’t want to be a fat loser dad. I keep going because it is hard and I kind of hate it, but nothing else in the world seems to balance me out spiritually.  I’ve been running consistently for 5 years. I ran in high school but that was forever and a day ago."

Seriously go and subscribe to his Youtube because he drops bombs of knowledge and will change your life. I said it so it's a thing.

4. Quote/Question
No quote this month, but instead here's a question/introspective inquiry about mental health;

What would you prefer to master: Thinking DEEPLY or Thinking CLEARLY? (and why?!)

Answer by hitting reply in here or sending an email to holler@dlakecreates.com or hit me on Instagram.
