Silver Sponsor

On behalf of Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club it is with great pleasure that we welcome Liquor Barons Hillarys for this coming season as our latest Silver Sponsor.

Their generosity will go towards upgrading and replacing equipment for the coming season. L ow liquor store in Hillarys
Liquor Barons Hillarys is a local family-owned and operated, an independent liquor store in Hillarys servicing the surrounding area and Perth's northern corridor.

Please support those that support us!

Gear and Equipment

With the new season only a couple of months away, the Beach Committee has been working hard to get upgraded and better equipment for the patrols.

Over the next few weeks several upgraded and replacement items will start to appear.

New Waterproof radio pouches have arrived. They are snug but will protect the radios from the water. They will loosen over time, we destroyed three radios last season due to exposure to moisture.

Please look after both the radios and the new pouches.

Neither of them are cheap or easy to replace.

Thanks,

Murray Geneff
Gear Officer

Youth News

Kick off of the 21/22 Youth Season
The Youth Season will commence on Sunday 10th October.  More details on timings will follow.

SRC Dates
We have the dates for the first SRC of the season 😊.  These will be

  • Saturday 16th October 8am – 12:15pm
  • Saturday 23rd October 8am – 12:15pm
  • Sunday 24th October 8am – TBA (depends when assessment finishes.  Aim for 12:30 but depends on competency etc)

Note : Any issues with bad weather will impact the schedule.  We would need to reserve the right to go one week longer for weather or competency issues
We will also need parent water safety support and for the candidates to be able to practise radios etc between sessions.

All candidates must attend all sessions.  We would encourage all of our new U14 for the season to attend and complete this course.  Successful completion of this course allows the U14’s to patrol and is a requirement for competitions (noting that  U14’s can compete on the Nipper competition qualification until the end of the year)

School Holiday Bronze/
The Bronze course will take place between Monday 4th Oct to Saturday 9th Oct.  (second week of school holidays). This course is aimed at those Youth moving up from U15’s last season to U17 this season (there is no U16 group).
If you want to compete (U17’s and upwards), patrol, become a boatie or participate in other courses that  the club offers, successful completion of the Bronze is a prerequisite.  This is a great opportunity to complete the course in a week, rather than over a series of weekends.

Please ensure that you have registered your interest with Jess ASAP as the course pre-work will commence shortly.  Members are required to be fully paid up at the start of the course.  There is a component of pre-work for the course that will be communicated to the participants shortly.
