What About Those Masks?

Church family, we are at a point which I thought was over. COVID concerns have resurfaced in a dramatic way over the past several weeks. We now find ourselves under an indoor gathering mask mandate yet again for our county. This particular mandate EXCLUDES churches, but I wanted to speak on the matter briefly anyway. At this point, we are not asking everyone to wear masks. At this point, we will continue to gather as a church family for in-person worship and services. At this point, we will still be live-streaming and recording our services for those who deem it wise to take advantage of those tools. And finally, at this point, we will continue to love one another and show grace. Many of us disagree on whether masks, or even vaccines, are effective. My encouragement is to esteem others more highly than ourselves. If you choose to wear a mask, you are welcomed and bless us with your presence. If you choose not to wear a mask, you are still welcomed and bless us with your presence. As the situation with COVID changes, we may need to adjust our plans. Stay tuned! We will have masks available if you need one. Please don't allow this to breed division in our fellowship. Love one another. Lift up Jesus. Serve well and do great things for the Kingdom. What matters most is our willingness to love God and love people. Let's do that well in our words, deeds, and especially attitudes.

Sunday school is now available each week at 9:15 for all age groups from birth and up! Children birth through Pre-K will be in the preschool building, Kindergarten-5th Grade upstairs in the education building (above the Welcome Center), and students 6th grade through 12th grade will be in the Youth House. Adults will be in various rooms around campus. If you are unsure of where to go, please start in the Welcome Center and our Connect Team will help you find a class! A complete list of our available Sunday School options can be found here.

The Challenge Class, a co-ed class taught by Lynwood Nixon and Vance Brooks, meets each Sunday morning at 9:15 in the Fellowship Hall. There is plenty of room and tables for your convenience.

The Lydia Class is a small group of mature women taught by Carol Tilden and Linda Newber that meets upstairs in the Christian Life Center (above the gym), Room L208. Any women looking for a Sunday school class are welcome to join us!

The Servants Class, a co-ed class led by Ken Tripp, Melvin Hall, and Wayland Reynolds, will also be available live on Zoom this Sunday, August 22nd at 9:15am. If needed, the Meeting ID and Passcode are listed below. Click on the button below at 9:15 on Sunday morning if you would like to join us! The class will begin their study in chapter 7 of the Book of Ecclesiastes this week.

Next Sunday is the 5th Sunday of August. As a service to our community, we take up a special offering for our Benevolence Fund on fifth Sundays. If you feel led to give to this fund, please be prepared with a prayerful spirit to bless those less fortunate than us.

Take home a piece of PVBC history! We will not be putting our current hymnals or Bibles back into the pews due to sanitation concerns since the pandemic, so we would like to offer them to any church members who would like to have one. If you or anyone you know needs a Bible, we have plenty of the New King James Version available. You may take as many of the Bibles or hymnals as you would like! Just call the office during the week or let a staff member know on Sunday morning.

If you would like to place flowers on the altar in memory or honor of a loved one during the months of August or September, please call the office or contact Donna Price.

Due to a rise in COVID cases in our area, the Hymn Sing scheduled for this Saturday night, August 21st, has been postponed for a later date to be determined. Thank you for understanding that the health of our singers and audience members is our priority. May God bless you and keep you safe!

Labor Day Picnic 9/5/21

Our annual Labor day picnic is coming up on Sunday, September 5th from 5-7pm at Shelter #2 at Long Leaf Park! We'd love for you to join us and bring a side dish or dessert to share. Invite your friends! Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

Ladies Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Wednesday Morning Bible Study starts September 8th at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall! Carroll Baxley will continue teaching our study in Genesis of Joseph beginning with a quick review.
