In order to increase the number of operations carried out through the use of Visa branded cards, the Partial Authorization was launched. Many card purchases end up being canceled due to insufficient balance, generating frustration not only for the cardholder, but also for merchants who lose the sale and for issuers, as the cards end up being underused.
With Partial Authorization, the holder who does not have the total purchase amount in the balance may choose to make the partial payment and finalize the purchase with another form of payment. This improvement applies to all customers/partners that issue Visa-branded cards. Customers/partners who use our authorizer (Internal Authorizer), already have the feature implemented in their bases.
For partners who use an External Authorizer and Visa's Own License, the improvement will be available in the new broker (multibroker), which will be available for migration at the end of 2021.
It is important to emphasize that the Partial Authorization does not have any operational or implementation costs. And, although this functionality is only available, for now, on Cielo's little machines, the forecast is that the other acquiring networks will adapt to the Partial Authorization until November 2021. In addition, it is necessary that the POS is enabled with this new functionality .
