Become a Cooperating Attorney with TLDEF's Trans Health Project!
The Affordable Care Act did a great job of eliminating transgender exclusion in Marketplace plans, and Supreme Court has said transgender employees are protected from discrimination. But it's 2021 and transgender workers are still being denied coverage for basic health care simply because it's transgender-related.
Countless people who work in grocery stores, drive trucks, or write code still find themselves having to launch a GoFundMe campaign, empty retirement accounts, or, most likely, simply go without the urgently needed, medically necessary care their doctors recommend.
TLDEF has developed a fast and successful method for getting employers to remove transgender exclusions—without litigation or even an EEOC charge. But we can't take on all of these cases by ourselves. Just like we rely on a corps of volunteer attorneys to help hundreds of people change their names each year, your help can be crucial to eliminating trans health exclusions so that people can obtain vital care.
Who: Attorneys and law students who want to play a key role in the movement for trans health equality.

How: This webinar will give you the tools you need to work on cases where there is a transgender exclusion in an employer-sponsored health plan. We'll cover practical details of how to know when to employ this approach, client intake and counseling, researching the company, drafting the letter, and tips on interacting with employer counsel. By the end, you'll be prepared to send letters either on your own or in conjunction with TLDEF and thereby play a key role in the movement for trans health equality.
This program will be recorded and made available to those who register.
