Wheeler Street Closed to
Through Traffic August 19, 20
for Utilities Work

August 18, 2021 – Wheeler Street will be closed to through traffic within sections of the existing construction zone on Thursday, August 19 and Friday, August 20 on Tuesday, July 20 as crews perform utilities work in two separate areas.

On Thursday, August 19, Wheeler will be closed to through traffic at the off ramp of US-10. On Friday, August 20, Wheeler will be closed to through traffic at the intersection with Foster Road. Access to Wheeler from Foster will also be restricted.

During these closures, both eastbound and westbound through traffic will be detoured around the construction area using Waldo Avenue, E. Ashman Street, and Swede Avenue. Wheeler will be open to two-way local traffic for those traveling to or from a destination within the construction zone.

Wheeler will reopen to eastbound traffic and remain closed to westbound traffic by the end of the day on Friday, August 20, weather permitting. Motorists traveling through the construction zone should drive with caution.

The Wheeler Street reconstruction and water main replacement project is estimated to be completed in October 2021.
