I HAVE A RELEASE DATE FOR DAMNING THE DEAD! It's officially official - Book Three of The Dead Series will release on January 5, 2022!!!!! I really wanted a 2021 date, but this is close enough! Plus, it will be available for preorder, possibly in October!!! At which point, I can finally share the cover with you all! (I will share it here eventually, but if you want to see it before anyone else, don't forget to join my reader group! :))

While we were on vacation, I learned that my unpublished historical mystery, A LAMENTATION OF SWANS, is a finalist in the Royal Palm Literary Awards in the Unpublished Mystery category! I'm SO thrilled about this - I love this book so much, and to find that others do also is just amazeballs! :) All judging has been completed, so now I sit and nail-bite until October, when I learn if it won or placed. Eek!!!
P.S. I will be publishing this book SOON, but I have other commitments first. Such as starting a new school year, in a new position, at a new building, teaching two new classes (and one "old" one, with a new format...*sigh* :))

The Last Word: A New Tool that is Saving My Life - Seriously!

Okay, I admit I like office supplies, especially anything that smacks of a "day planner." However, I rarely find one that works for me. Which is why I'm taking part of this newsletter to mention the Silk + Sonder monthly journal. I swear, I've tried SO many things like this, from basic datebooks to regular old journals. I even tried ones geared toward time management like Define My Day (which I do like, but I just couldn't seem to keep up with it).
 This journal, OTOH, is AMAZING. It's got structure (lurve!) - but you can ignore it, and do whatever the hell you want (lurve even MORE!)! It's super creative, with places to write, doodle, scribble, or whatever. And it's SO pretty! Seriously - I was thinking how pretty it was, and then I read something from the founder (Meha Agrawal) where she literally says they make the journals pretty so no matter how much you "mess up" or scribble or whatever, it's still beautiful. And that's so true!
But what I really LOVE about this journal is that, after only two days' use, and listening to the Daily Audio Intentions, I said "NO" to two things I was dreading doing, that would have been huge time sucks! I honestly don't know why I agreed to them in the first place, but I did, and I would have felt obligated to see them through.
Instead, my S+S journal helped me focus and set intentions, and I suddenly realized that those two things didn't feed my soul, OR my goals, and I was able to cut them out. It was a HUGE relief! I'm a total convert, so if you're looking for a journaling process that emphasizes "Progress, NOT Perfection", give it a try!
 A monthly subscription is $19.95/month, but there are prepaid options that make it cheaper. I went for the month-by-month at first, but will most likely switch to an annual plan after another month or so, if it's still working for me. (Which I think it will be! :))
