Grants to Cover Organic Certification Costs

Are you a certified organic operation? Have you incurred expenses related to certifying your operation? You may be eligible to receive partial reimbursement of those costs through the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets' Organic Certification Cost Share Program.
 
Certified organic operations may receive reimbursement of up to 50% of their direct certification costs paid between October 1 and September 30 annually, not to exceed $500. Funds are disbursed on a first come, first served basis.

In addition to completing an application form, applicants will need to submit a copy of their organic certification, a current W-9 and copies of itemized receipts for all eligible costs. Some examples of allowable costs include: application fees, inspection fees and travel and per diem costs for organic inspectors.

The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center has extended the deadline and expanded eligibility for the Goat & Sheep Dairy Supply Chain Grant. Dairy businesses and producer associations are encouraged to apply with proposals that positively impact their business and existing or potential partners.. Not sure if your idea qualifies? Reach out! Grants range from $15k - $50k.

Farmers markets, along with many businesses, changed the way they operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many markets began aggregating products to accommodate online ordering and curbside pick-ups, raising new questions about liability and risk. This new resource aims to address questions about insurance and liability that have arisen from these market changes, as well as broader concerns related to operating during a pandemic. 

Join the Vermont Vegetable and Berry Growers Association, University of Vermont Extension and Gund Institute at this hands-on workshop to increase your understanding of wild pollinators and how to support them in agricultural landscapes. We will discuss pollinator-friendly farm practices, which pollinators you are likely to find, and practice an on farm pollinator assessment exercise. This event is free and is geared toward commercial growers.

Vermont Technical College (VTC) is offering free, hands-on apprenticeship programs for people interested in advanced manufacturing and industrial maintenance. If you're interested in working in manufacturing, or facilities that make products like coffee, ice cream and cheese, these programs will provide valuable skills and experiences. Some courses offer college credit as well. Both programs are offered at VTC's Williston Campus. 

First Course Starts: August 25 @ 5 pm
