Bylaws!
The 205th Annual Convention of the Diocese of North Carolina adopted resolutions permitting Parishes and Missions to conduct Annual Meetings virtually without any requirement of actual in-person attendance and to allow election of vestry members by absentee ballot or by electronic means. We have the opportunity to amend our bylaws to allow for such meeting and elections through a mail-in vote of parish members. The last year and a half have shown that traditional, in person meetings at times are not possible.
Therefore, the Diocese has given us the opportunity to conduct the important business of the Parish even in such times. If you are a parish member (baptized, confirmed, communicant over 16 years of age) be on the lookout for a letter in the mail where you can review the proposed bylaw changes and vote Yes or No for adoption of the amendment to the Bylaws of the Chapel of the Cross via an enclosed, stamped post card, to be returned no later than October 15.

Special thanks to the task force who worked on conforming our proposed bylaw amendments to the diocesan bylaws: Emily Mosley, Dick Taylor, Eugene Dauchert, and Brian Coggins.

This Sunday | Blessing of the Backpacks (and Brains!)
As children return to school, our clergy will offer a blessing of the backpacks on Sunday, August 22, at 10:45 a.m. in the Franklin St. churchyard.  Bring your backpack (or briefcase) and a mask for this short liturgy.  If you are unable to make it in person, we will post a virtual blessing to cotcchildandfam.org later in the afternoon.  Our prayers are with all students and teachers as they begin a new year (or continue their year-round classes).
Worship Schedule Update

It’s been such a joy worshiping in person with so many of you over the past few months, we have certainly made the best of our beautiful campus...indoors, outdoors and everywhere in-between!

For the remainder of the Summer, we will worship in the Nave for both the 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday services, no registration required. The 9 a.m. service will also be livestreamed on the parish YouTube channel. Bulletins will  be posted within the livestream and on our website by 8 a.m. on the day of the service. Children's Chapel continues with registration outdoors at 10 a.m. Masking is required at all services and in the parish house.
