AN EVENING TO LEARN ABOUT FORESTS AND CHELONIAN (TURTLE) SCIENCE

This event is open to anyone who is curious about our the fathoms of our forests and the tiniest of turtles.

We have an update for our AGM- We’ve secured a venue for an in person event!

First: What is happening to our trees? …there are new challenges afoot that are threatening the richness of our forested habitats. Discover how our trees and forests are fairing. Meet experts and find answers to unravel the mystery of the new patterns that are afoot. Keynote speaker Eleanor Reed will take us on a virtual tour of our forests.

Then: Turtles are some of the most vulnerable species in Ontario, with a single turtle taking 60 years to replace itself!  With increased traffic and habitat loss, Ontario’s turtle populations have dramatically declined over the last few decades. The Land Between's Turtle Guardian program hosts the third largest turtle egg incubator in Ontario. Have a tour of the operations and the hatchlings.

This  IN-PERSON  event is at Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association (6712 Gelert Road Haliburton, ON). Space is limited.

It’s an entertaining and educational evening (including our live teaching turtles), with additional presentations by conservation experts and the option to have dinner (vegan or venison chili and snacks). Having dinner? Please provide $15 at the door.
