MAASA National Championships 2021
We are fast approaching the culmination of the competitive season of 2021, with the fourth annual MAASA Nationals Championships to be held on 24-26th September 2021 at Botha-Wil Stables.

This event will be held over two days, and will consist of four styles/events: Raid 1-2-3, Tower90, Qabaq and Kazakh.

All styles will be run according to Horse Archer and Student Archer rules and times, and all runs must be done in a canter.

Entries are open to all MAASA members, irrespective of whether you completed two or more qualifiers during 2021, however riders who have not completed two or more qualifiers during 2021 will not be eligible for National Team selection.

Entries close on Tuesday 7th September 2021 at midnight.  NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.

IHAA World Grand Prix - Stage 2
The second stage of the IHAA World Grand Prix took place on Saturday 21st August 2021 at Botha Wil Stalle.

The official team riders for this stage were:

Seniors:  Callie Kruger / Maretha Kruger / Deirdre Janse van Rensburg. 
Young Riders:  Cara Lee van der Westhuizen / Meagan Pelzer / Talitha Schoeman

We also had a number of individual entries for this stage: 
Jaco Jacobs / Marna Wium / Jacques Horn / Muhammed Jeena / Aadil Adamjee / Amelia Kruger.
Once again, the archers competed in three events - Tower90, Raid 233 and the Skirmish.

We would like to thank Banie Smit and his team at Botha Wil Stalle for the impeccable facilities and the use of their world-class track.  As always when they host a competition, our athletes and officials are treated like royalty!

Congratulations to the three top overall scorers for the day:
Jacques Horn shot a total of 279.27 points and took top spot.  Hot on his heels was Deirdre Janse van Rensburg with a score of 216 points, followed closely by Jaco Jacobs in the third overall place with a total of 208.98 points. 

The full results of all the riders for the day are as follows:
National Rankings
Due to the Covid third wave, the fourth and final Gauteng qualifier had to be rescheduled to the 4th September 2021.  The following National Rankings are based on an average of each rider's scores across the number of qualifiers / gradings they have done up until the end of August 2021.  Once the final Gauteng qualifier has been held, the rankings list will be updated:
SANESA News

All provincial SANESA qualifiers have been completed, and the teams for SANESA Nationals have been selected.  The following riders will participate in the SANESA Nationals on Sunday 26th September 2021 at Bekker Equestrian Academy:

BRAG BAG
MAASA's juniors have been in the news again!  A huge congratulations to the following riders:

Jacques Horn for winning the IHAA  Jan/Feb Canter Postal match and the Try-Out Canter postal match on his horse, Sylvester.
Marli Jacobs for taking top honours in the IHAA March/April Canter Postal Match, riding her horse Tequila.  

Well done you two, you are certainly flying the MAASA flag high on the international front!
