CAST would like to remind and encourage WASH partners and coordination platforms to engage in World Humanitarian Day! This year, the highlight will be the immediate human cost of the climate crisis to advocate for world leaders to take meaningful climate action for the world’s most vulnerable people.

“The climate emergency is a race we are losing, but it is a race we can win.” – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres

The climate emergency is causing grave damage across the world at a scale that humanitarian workers and the whole humanitarian community cannot manage. Time is running out for the world’s most vulnerable people. Those who have contributed least to the global climate emergency yet are hit the hardest — and millions of others that are already losing their homes, their livelihoods, and their lives.

World Humanitarian Day 2021 focusses on the immediate consequences of the climate emergency for the world’s most vulnerable people and ensure their voices are heard, and their needs top the agenda at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November.

Everyone is invited to join #TheHumanRace, the global challenge for climate action. and to put the needs of climate-vulnerable people from and centre at COP26.
