Creation Time launch tonight

With the COP26 climate talks this autumn, it is more important than ever to share the urgent need to address the climate emergency. As Christians we want our local communities to know we have ‘green issues at our heart’ as we do our best to care for God’s creation. Making green hearts and placing them in prominent positions around our church and community gives a visible sign of that commitment.

We are launching a new craftivism resource among our materials for Creation Time, encouraging you to use your creativity and create hearts from materials like fabric, wool, paper or stone. It's a great activity for individuals or groups of all ages. We will also link this to campaign activities in the run-up to COP26. Please download the new resource here:

Eco-Congregation Scotland now shares notice of all our events several times weeks in advance through our emails and newsletters, Eventbrite, Facebook and Twitter but we always find a large level of registration at the last minute, so again we share tonight's much anticipated launch of our Creation Time worship materials. There's still time to join us for this inspiring event at 7.30pm with Rev David Coleman and many of this year's contributors. Please register now for this and our upcoming workshops and meetings.

Creation Time 2021 launch
Thursday 19 August 2021
7.30pm – 9.00pm

Eco-Congregation Scotland is partnering with the Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) to provide ecumenical Creation Time materials in a variety of media, joining Christians around the world in the Season of Creation, or Creationtide, from 1 September to 4 October.

In this year of
COP26, new weekly resources have been prepared by our Eco-Chaplain Rev David Coleman and diverse volunteers in partnership with JPIT for the five Sundays of Creation Time 2021.

JPIT brings together the United Reformed ChurchMethodist Church and Baptist Union of Great Britain - linking Baptist churches outwith Scotland - helping the Churches work together for peace and justice, with the Church of Scotland an associate partner. JPIT also has a range of resources online.
Rev David Coleman said: "It’s an exciting time to be church which requires courage, faith and cheerfulness as changing global conditions enable us to delight in the manifold green threads of the Bible emerging like shoots of God’s Word for today. Please join us this evening - and please use the resources through Creation Time."

Pilgrims, campaigners, scientists, policymakers, delegates, visitors...we are welcoming the world to COP26 but many voices we need to hear can't find or afford accommodation.

If you are in Glasgow or the central belt, please consider opening up your home - and your heart - to offer hospitality and a Scottish welcome, in an ethical alternative to hotels and other expensive accommodation Please join the COP26 Homestay Network like
Rev Dr Martin Johnstone (above right), Glasgow Churches COP26 Ambassador, as a strong faith-based action as we host COP26 and guests from around the globe. You can find out more here: https://bit.ly/cop26hnc

As members of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and the COP26 Coalition we also encourage faith spaces in and around Glasgow to become venues for events, meetings, socialising and office space, helping COP26 be a success for civil society groups coming to Scotland for the conference.

Many churches are opening their doors as part of this process. If your church, hall or office space can join the
Spaces for Change project find out more here. There is also a need for shop fronts and exhibition space. If you have international partners or colleagues coming from overseas to COP interested in these opportunities please see information on the Climate Fringe website.
