In Sorrow and In Prayer

Kenneth Joseph Bouffard

January 1, 1945 - August 16, 2021

'I am the resurrection and the life,' saith the Lord; 'he that believeth in
me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth
and believeth in me shall never die,' John 1.25-26

Kenneth Joseph Bouffard, 76, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Mass General Hospital in Boston. He was born January 1, 1945, in Salem MA to Alfred and Marion (Thomas) Bouffard.

Ken was a lifelong Peabody resident, graduating from Peabody High in 1962. After high school, he attended Wentworth Institute, Northeastern University, and Lowell Tech -- now known as Lowell University -- graduating with an engineering degree.

Ken was the founder and owner of Civil Environmental Consultants LLC, a survey and engineering company, in Peabody. He loved the engineering world, even working an eight-hour day the day before his hospitalization in April of 2020. Prior to opening his own company, Ken was an engineer for the City of Peabody and the Town of Middleton.

Ken married Carol Burns in 1976 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peabody.  Their 45th anniversary was June 11, 2021.  Ken, a lifelong Episcopalian, attended St. Paul’s in Peabody until its merger with Calvary, Danvers, renamed All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore. He was an active member of both St. Paul’s and All Saints, serving as a Warden, Vestry member and serving on many committees.

Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He especially enjoyed taking his family to Red Sox games and hosting BBQ pool parties.  After marrying Carol, Ken caught the traveling bug, vacationing at Cape Cod when his children were younger and, as the children grew older, to Bermuda, Aruba, Disney World, the Bahamas and Europe.  Ken and Carol enjoyed a special 25th Anniversary trip on the Orient Express and a 35th Anniversary trip on the Royal Scotsman. His love of Italian food was well known, and Ken and Carol were able to travel to Italy several times. As much as he loved Italian food, in true Ken fashion, he ordered a burger and fries for lunch in Sorrento!  Some of the most memorable trips were visiting Ken’s cousins in England and Carol’s cousins in Scotland.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Marion Bouffard, his grandparents Arthur and Edna Thomas and Alfred and Bertha Bouffard.

Ken is survived by his wife Carol, his son Leonard and his wife Brenda Bouffard of Peabody, his daughter Heather and her husband Eric Slack of Beverly, his daughter Katie and her husband Ralph Clarkson of Aberdeen, WA, and his daughter Holly and her husband Jason Reynolds of Tewksbury, his grandchildren Dillon, Mason and Juliana Bouffard of Peabody, and Eva and Wesley Clarkson of Aberdeen, WA.  Also surviving are his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janet and Kris Kimball, his brother-in-law Kenneth Burns, his niece Haley Merkel and her husband Brad, his niece Kristy Fisher and her husband Richard, his niece Sarah Burns and nephew David Burns as well as many cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 1 to 5 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, MA.  A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, August 23, 2021, at All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore at 9:30 AM followed by burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody. Per family request, masks are required for the visitation and the funeral service. The service will simultaneously be broadcast on Zoom: Meeting ID: 843 4908 8075, dial in at +1-929-205-6099.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Perfect Paws Pet Ministry at All Saints 46 Cherry St. Danvers or to All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore.
