My heart has been heavy this week. Part of this heaviness has been for people in countries far away from Minnesota...people I don’t know by name...but people who, just like us, were created in the Imago Dei - the image of God. The lives of countless men, women and children around the world have been upended by situations beyond any of our control, particularly in Afghanistan, Haiti and Lebanon. It’s hard to know how, or even what to pray when hearing stories and seeing images that are unimaginable. I’ve found myself singing the chorus to a song we sang last week, Still in Control, written by Jesus Culture & Mack Brock.
My God is still in control
And still He reigns on His throne
Though mountains may tremble and sea billows roll
I'll sing it is well with my soul
My God is still in control
This reminder that God is at work in the world gives me hope, but also spurs me on to pray that His kingdom comes to earth quickly!
Despite the heaviness of the week, there have been exciting things too! We hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday and 28 donors provided 21 units of whole blood!. Thanks all who donated and volunteered!
This week, we move into a 4 week series titled, Here I Am. Pastor Adam is starting off with a message about how each of us are called to follow Jesus. I encourage you to read this brief story in the book of Matthew where Jesus called people to follow Him. Matthew 4:18-21 (NLT)
I look forward to worshiping with you this week- either in person on Sunday at 10 am or on-line, as we continue our journey of loving God and loving people.
As the number of positive cases for Covid-19 and the Delta variant continue to rise in Chisago County, the Administrative Council, with guidance from the MN Annual Conference, is recommending that people wear masks and social distance while in the building at Main Street Church. As always, if you are not feeling well, please stay home and enjoy our services online.
