What You Can Do

Following CYVAC’s values on global unification, there are a few things you can do to make a positive impact!

Use your passions to make the issues you care about be understood, highlighted, or revealed. Whether it’s through creating meaningful art, playing music, conducting research, or writing, there are infinite mediums you can share your ideas.

Alternatively, you can use relevant hashtags to inform others on social media and other platforms for certain events and topics.

Volunteer in your community. Giving back is a great way to support nonprofit values and civic actions.

Take some time to learn more about nonprofits, both local and global around you. Research their mission, impact, and what they do.

Consider donating to the nonprofits that align with your values and you believe are making an impact. Funding for these organizations often satisfies more than the mission statement, and any contribution makes a difference! You can begin by donating to our funding page, where ALL net proceeds will be donated to UNICEF Canada. You will also receive a tax receipt for tax credit!

Too Bold to Stop Dreaming

Rima’s story of continuing her education and sitting for Grade 12 national exams while still displaced
---

Education and learning don’t stop when violence and forced relocation occur. Nineteen-year-old Rima from Syria treasures education as the “most powerful weapon a girl can have in the face of difficult circumstances”.

After dropping out of school in 2015 due to extremist groups taking over in Deir-Ez-Zor, Rima and her family of fifteen fled their hometown to Areesheh camp, amongst 14,000 displaced people. However, Rima never stopped learning. Just after one year at the camp, she enrolled in a UNICEF-supported programme, specializing in helping out of school children to catch up on their schoolwork and to prepare for returning for the next grade.

This year, Rima has studied non-stop for the grade 12 national exam. Despite the hardships given at the camp, her family views her education as a top priority, for which she is extremely grateful.

Thanks to UNICEF National Committees and donors, UNICEF has reached 3500 children like Rima, with education programmes in two well-equipped learning centres.
