As we begin preparations for school visits in a few short weeks, I want to share one of the highlights of our summer. We were honored to host a group of students from Adams 12 Five Star School District for two weeks of summer day camps as part of the district’s Summer Recovery Program.
Featuring Young Americans Center’s hallmark program, Young AmeriTowne, the camps were designed to meet students and families’ needs to expedite a smooth transition for at-risk 5th grade students from elementary to middle school.

Serving disadvantaged youth is at the core of the Center’s work. On average 31% of program participants are low-income with 20% participating on scholarship.
The Center has had a longtime partnership with Adams 12 Five Star School District. Through this partnership, 100% of the District’s elementary schools participate in Young AmeriTowne.
Adams 12 social studies coordinators, principals and teachers crafted Summer Recovery Programs with several partners including Denver Museum of Nature and Science, History Colorado, Broomfield Depot, and Young Americans Center for Financial Education.
The District selected Young AmeriTowne because of its track record in providing students a hands-on, engaging learning experience in alignment with the key principles of SEL (Social and Emotional Learning). Research shows that programs integrating social, emotional, and academic components result in more equitable learning environments. That's something we strive for at Young Americans, and we're proud to have participated.
Sincerely,
Rich Martinez
President and CEO
